Free Agency:

Chris Clark, OT, Texans: 1 year/$4,000,000 ($1,250,000 guaranteed)

While Leno has played well this season so far, Pace still needs to bring in some competition and that’s just what he does. He brings in Clark, who has played well for the Texans this year and has experience in Gase’s scheme and playbook during his time with Denver.

Malik Jackson, DE, Broncos: 5 years/$47,000,000 ($25,000,000 guaranteed)

Pace signs the difference maker this defensive line has needed in Jackson. While he is not Muhammad Wilkerson, he offers similar production at a much cheaper price.

Mike Neal, OLB, Packers: 2 years/$8,000,000 ($2,500,000)

The Bears finally sign Mike Neal after failing to court him two years. Neal has been productive for the Packers in a backup role the last few years and now, he comes to Chicago, where he will compete with Acho for the starting job opposite McPhee.

Trumaine Johnson, CB, Rams: 5 years/$42,000,000 ($20,000,000 guaranteed)

The Bears finally get their #1 CB in Johnson, who has been very underrated this season. At 6’2, he fits what Fangio wants to do at the position. I believe they get a good deal with Johnson, who will be 26 when next season starts.

Draft:

1st Round, Pick 6: Jaylon Smith, ILB, Notre Dame

The Bears get their Patrick Willis with the pick of Smith. He enters as the JACK of this defense and should be making plays Day 1.

2nd Round, Pick 45: Cameron Sutton, CB, Tennessee

The Bears get some needed help in the secondary. Sutton enters as the nickelback behind Johnson and Porter. He also offers some versatility as well with being a return man.

3rd Round, Pick 76: Noah Spence, OLB, Eastern Kentucky

The Bears finally address the pass rushing situation by taking the troubled, but talented Spence. Despite playing at a small school, he is still viewed by many as a top 15 talent and could be our version of Aaron Lynch. He enters OTAs as the backup behind McPhee.

4th Round, Pick 107: Landon Turner, OG, North Carolina

With our miserable right guard play by Ducasse, the Bears add a high-upside guard in Turner, who enters the season as the starter.

5th Round, Pick 138: Jacoby Brissett, QB, NC State

What’s a mock draft without a quarterback? Pace gets a developmental quarterback in Brissett that could be our quarterback of the future. He enters as the backup, who replaces the incumbent Clausen.

6th Round, Pick 169: Curt Maggitt, OLB, Tennessee

I believe the Bears get a steal in Maggitt. He was viewed by some as a Day 2 pick before his injury. Maggitt is another piece to the solution towards fixing our pass rush.

6th Round, Pick 188 (Patriots): Kodi Whitfield, FS, Stanford

While the Bears already have Amos at FS, the former wide receiver adds some needed depth to a depleted secondary.

6th Round, Pick 189 (Panthers): Joe Dahl, OG, Washington State

The Bears load up on the offensive line again with Dahl. He has been going under the radar, which is ridiculous. Pace gets another steal.

7th Round, Pick 200: Michael Jordan, CB, Missouri Western

Here’s a Matt Miller sleeper. Jordan is a developmental prospect who’ll play special teams at first. Hey, who wouldn’t want another Michael Jordan?

Love the first 4 picks in the draft and would be very happy if that's how it actually shook out.

I don't think we can land Jackson and Neal, however but would certainly not be upset if they were able to pull that off.

Bravo! Nice offseason. Just dont like retaining Shea. I cringed when he was drafted and my feeling hasnt changed much. The only reason Shea is lookin better this year is because Jones is a bit more horrible.

Stop moving Fuller to strong safety! Looks an awful lot like Windy's. Looks like a good defense. I don't know that adding a 4th round OG and a swing OT is enough on the OL.

What do you do with Fuller then? I hope they move him to NB at some point this season to see how he does before making any decision on switching positions. I just moved him there as the last resort. Windy's are the best. I think the defense could take that next step towards being in the top 12. I think the OL will hold up.
