HOOPSWORLD: Bulls Not Trading Thomas

While many have already traded Thomas in whatever deal strikes their fancy – to Phoenix in a package for Amar'e Stoudemire is a popular one – the Bulls are committed to Thomas being part of their future. The word on the street is the Bulls will open contract extension talks with Thomas' agent this summer – he is eligible for an extension that would kick in for the 2010-11 season this summer – to keep him in Chicago. That's where Thomas wants to be and that's where the Bulls want him to be.

I don't buy it for a second.

I don't think it's a ridiculous thought. Say they agree on a 3-4 years extension for 4-5 million dollar per year, then he becomes a lot more diserable for GMs around the league because that would be a great contract for the type of player that he is.

^^ That could be true, good point. But I very much doubt the Bulls are happy with Thomas and want in a Bulls uniform long term.

That is a frikkin steal. I say we keep him (unless elite pf becomes available via trade) at that price any day of the week.

However, I think he could easily get the full MLE; plus players always overvalue their own game. So, those type of terms are not likely.

I would think it would take more than 4yr/$20 million to extend Tyrus. I would argue that something around 4yr/$32 million is about what it would take. I think the Bulls' main offseason goal is to get Rose a bigman and Tyrus, Hinrich, picks, expirings are all up for grabs in order to do that.

Under certain circumstances though Tyrus might be more valuable in a trade once he's signed an extension. That way other teams would know what they are getting themselves in to from a financial stand point.

You can look at it the other way to and figure the team would like to negotiate with Tyrus themseleves. It probably all depends on what GM you are dealing with and how high his new salary is... 4/$32 is probably overpaying but certainly not grotestically by NBA standards.

Ty is cool with me. After all, he spoke at my school on behalf of my uncle Emmett Till!

Being one of the the biggest suporters on Earth ,im hoping the hoops world piece is correct.I really think once Ty gets his mind right hes going to be real good.Plus he has the heart and balls it takes to win just look at ot of game 1.He must learn to be consistent with his effort and get stronger around the rim,but i still have dreams of him and Rose running the court like Kidd & KMart use to..

I don't buy that Tyrus really has passion to play this game. He didn't start playing organized basketball till Junior in High School. He always seems so moppy and somebody probably told him you can jump high why not play basketball

Now I understand the -12. I couldnt care if he spoke on behalf on MJ, he still needs to be dealt while the value is still there.

That Karma thing is ***. If you make good point, but arguing against the guy and he's little baby and goes cry you get negative 6. Im just going to start going on rampage and putting everybody in the negative if I keep on getting treated like trash.

I don't care either except when someone brings up your karma as arguing part as you must be stupid. How is the Mets looking? I haven't paided attention, but I do recall Delgado being out for 2 months.

egh were beating bad teams and losing to good teams, opposite of last season. Del is out two months which hurts because he was carrying the offense. We have a triple platoon of Tatis, Murphy and Reed manning 1st which is not a pretty thing.

I heard there might be a Mark Derosa sighting soon there. Is the pitching staff any good beside Santana?

I met him and was very dissapointed in him. He would not even give me a second of his time. Its not my fault he cant catch a fly ball.

Pelfrey and Maine are decent pitchers but both are solid #3s.
