I can't tell which, but I have drain/fruit flies in my house.

I mostly find them in my kitchen around my sink, so I am assuming they are breeding in the drains.

I bleached all my drains and they seemed to be gone, then a bunch of new ones showed up on Saturday.

I bleached the drains again and set a drain fly trap on the counter which is catching a bunch.

I should probably stop living like a slob.... das prolly it, innit m8s?

A couple years in a house I was renting I got moths, the small kind. There would all of a sudden be a dozen of them. We cleaned the whole kitchen, checked all over, kinda got rid of them but never fully. When we were packing up and throwing away before we moved out, my wife found their lair in a package of fucking dry barley in the back of our cupboard. Insects are weird.

Clean your drains.

Bleach isn't very good at penetrating through the eggs. So it basically is toxic to the living flies, but doesn't do much to remove the colony. You'll need to identify the buildup and come up with the solution to clean that buildup. That could be as simple as a drain cleaner (but also use with caution because good drain cleaners can also do damage), or needing to clean the buildup by hand with some kind of brush.

Dawn soap diluted in water. You can spray it on your plants if they are in the plants and it will stop them.

I wonder if this is similar to the trap method I am using.... they have you combine water, apple cider vinegar, sugar, and a bit of dish soap in a container.

According to what I read, the smell of the ACV attracts them.... the sugar makes them want to go into the water.... the dish soap kills them.

Seems to be working well right now.

I just know that we had that problem in Colorado where it was more humid. They would be all in the soil of the houseplants. Someone at a nursery told us to do that and spray it directly on the soil and leaves it worked perfect, no damage to the plant and the little ******* disappeared in a hurry.

I am not sure how much you dilute it, but I would just google it and err on the side of less soap.

Oh also, if you have a garbage disposal. Fill it with ice and some soap and run it. cleans the inside of the disposal well.

I don't have one, but I want to get one when I redo my kitchen.... mentally filing this away for the day when I have one.

Baking soda, hot water and vinegar is a great safe drain cleaner.
