the new corvette 2023 with vin number 001 auctioned off @ $3,600,000.00. all the money goes to charity for soldiers and military families. Gotta wonder, do they even bother to drive that car if they paid that much?
I'd bet money the winning bidder was NASCAR team owner Rick Hendrick who has the largest collection of Corvette 000001s out there and no he won't drive it ever.

Got a fun story for you. 20 years ago I got a special invite too play at an ultra exclusive club in Sugar Grove called Rich Harvest Farms. It's owned by Jerry Rich, a computer billionare that was denied a membership at Augsuta and decided to build his own course. Only 50 members he handpicked and they pay $50k per year. The facility is pristene. All the range balls are brand new Titleists. Most days there are only 1-2 foursomes.

As part of the facility he built a 12,000 sqft house for each of his kids. He is an automotive collector and has a seperate building for his collection. I beleive it's currently worth $100m. He has one of Hitler's cars, matching Dino Ferraris, worth $6M each, one of JFKs cars, etc. He has a full time tour director for the car tour. In the building he has his own church. Here are a couple of pics

I've heard of Jerry Rich and his golf course before, my wife's father is a mechanic for a nascar driver. 4th picture you have, there's a white vehicle with blue racing stripes is a ATS stile50 correct? cant see if there's a rack mounted on the trunk.

It's been 20 years since I have been there. I barely know the guy and got an invitation to play there. Ours was the only group that day. 3 times the employees compared to golfers.

What I remember was the course had ridiculously large greens. That creates optical illusion issues on approach shots. TBH, the course just wasnt that interesting. The clubhouse was stunning and they had these cashews at the bar that were as big as my thumb. The car museum and church were the real show. Remember the matching Dino Ferraris and Hitler's Duisenberg the most. He only had about 50 cars but the value was $80m so he goes for quality

Somehow I'm not surprised that you have tiny thumbs and like Hitler's car.

Don't really have a dream car.

I've owned fun/interesting cars from Dodge Challengers to an old Datsun 300ZX

I wouldn't mind a Mercedes AMG GT right now. I could get one, but I can't see myself shelling that much out for a car considering I am going to pay for about 16 years worth of college in the next decade

What chassis does the kit build on?

The chassis comes from the factory (Superformance). Technically it's not a kit/replica, but a 'continuation' car. The chassis comes as part of the "kit", but you have to do all the work putting it together(Or pay somebody to do it). Welding, electrical, etc... You get a serial # continuing from the 60's, into what Superformance has been putting outs since they own the rights to Ford GT40's. They've made some QOL improvements for safety, but everything mostly aligns with the Le Mans winning cars.

What engines will fit? Strictly period correct Ford V8s, or do they allow some flexibility, like a modern coyote?

It can fit a variety of Ford V8's (289, 302, 351, and I HAVE seen builds with modern Ford Engines like the Coyote). 427 big block is what's recommended for the authentic experience.

Let me preface my post by saying that I am by no means a "car guy." They have just never interested me.

That said, as a fan of movies, I would like to own the Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit.
