It isn't just the starting 5. When you don't have Dunleavy starting Kirk starts which means unless Thibs dramatically changes the rotation Brooks is the point guard off the bench and Snell is playing the 3 or Moore is at the 2 and they don't have the leadership that Hinrich gives the second unit. This is even more out of whack with Noah out because Mirotic plays more minutes as the stretch 4 with Gibson or Gasol in the middle with Brooks in that second unit. It's like when Nate Robinson or Watson or Augustin was the point guard, they didn't direct the offense very well when they weren't shooting the ball. But now you're seeing the effects of people playing slightly out of where their best slot in the rotation is on the defensive side.
To add on to this point. Hinrich is a back up PG. As a back up PG he has more size and strength then most of the people guarding him and he is going against. As a starting to who is undersized and not nearly as athletic. As a backup PG Hinrich is a plus player. As a starting SG he is a negative.
That is one of the problems with Snell and McDermott not being able to fill in when a wing goes down. It pushes people out of their plus matchups on both offense and defense. the Bulls need a starting SF. Dunleavy should be coming off the bench.
I am not sure why Snell/Mcdermott/Mirotic can't start at SF right now. I think this is one of the failures of the coaching staff. In stead of having one player out of their natural rotation they throw both units upside down.
