The most concerning thing is that Fangio's scheme is set up for the MLB to thrive, and neither has made many big plays this year. I think we are in a complete reboot at ILB in the offseason. Maybe Willis will come back and play for his old D coordinator.

I think if things keep going the way they are, I'd probably re-sign Shea and draft the position in the first 3 rounds. Ideally, you'd like to have 2 better ILBs than Jones and McClellin, but I don't know that the Bears have the resources to do that considering they also need help at OLB, CB, S, OL, and QB. So, I'm fine with 1 of these guys starting, but not both unless they greatly improve.

In fairness, compared to the other positions, QB is not that big of a deal at the moment.

Both our ILBs are learning new positions. I think they deserve some leeway. The second half of the season we should know more.

It's not. But unless Cutler is going to finally live up to his expectations, 2016 is going to be his last year in Chicago. This is about as strong of a QB draft as it's going to get (not just in the 1st round), and the Bears are probably not going to pick as high in 2017 as they are going to in 2016. Throw in the fact that Clausen can't possibly be brought back (mostly for my sanity), and I think the Bears need to get a QB in the top 3 rounds, IMO.

Yeah, you may be right. However, it is encouraging that Cutler looks better under Gace than any previous OC in the short sample we have seen.

Interesting stuff. Maybe I need to re-watch the games because I've thought Jones seems to be in better position more frequently than Shea. Than again, that isn't saying much. I didn't think Jones looked quite as bad as every one else so maybe I haven't been watching close enough.

And I agree about Jenkins -- he's looked legit. I'd really like to find some core pieces on D this season.

They haven't looked bad it's just the typical people over reacting on here. They haven't flashed either but they've done their jobs and i think Shea has done a decent job in coverage as well. They're doing a decent job at stopping the run especially last week against L.Murray. Are they great? No, but for a UDFA that's starting in a new defense and for Shea who'd been changing positions every year and is playing a new position again after 4 games have been decent.
