Did you somehow just skip over my whole entire explanation that I gave when you complained about this situation the first time?

It makes perfect sense why Emery was awarded the job over Salak.

he rarely responds when you ask him to respond to something.

We are still trying to get how he would have attacked the 2010 offseason better....he has yet to answer except say that Bowman ruined the team

And to say we "handed" it to Emery is laughable

If Emery would have played like shit this pre-season, Salak would be the backup

^^^ I mean this is the thing, Salak outplayed Emery in the pre-season. It wasn't anything drastic though and we are comparing 120 minutes to 120 minutes...a ridiculously small sample size. I can understand someone saying they want Salak, that is fine and that is their opinion...but not recognizing why it makes sense to have Emery instead of Salak makes no sense. Hell, even Emery's cap hit is smaller (even though it is barely anything at all)! haha

It is sort of as close as this area here gets (the Hawks board at CCS) to hazing and/or a Rite of Passage.

Probably the best move for the Hawks. If Salak becomes the backup goalie he only gets 20 maybe 25 games. A young goalie like that you want in the AHL to fully develop.

Let Salak get a full season or 2 as a #1 goalie see what he can do. Emery has proved he can fill in when he needs to, Salak is still an unknown.

I'm not going to rant and rave, but this does smell like contract politics. Salak is waiver exempt and the organization is taking advantage because, well, that is what they think is best. This could be a mistake, but there's no way it will destroy the season; it will still hinge on Crow.

I expect him to be recalled at some point this season.

Well, by old I meant being a vet. The Hawks have a weird obsession with veteran goalies. Crawford and Salak would be fine. They both proved that in the preseason. Emery is too slow.

You should have just said by being a vet than not age. Why hurt a rookies development when you can have a veteran do the back up job?

Because Emery is slow and it will be like last year when Turco played. I'm all for giving Salak more time to develop, but I don't want an inadequate player on the Hawks just because he's a veteran.

So I'm guessing you are saying this from the small sample size of 120 minutes in PRESEASON?

Surely you couldn't be saying this from the small sample size from last year of the 10 games, 2.28GAA, and .926 pct in the REGULAR season where he went 7 - 2

Icehog is correct, Salak will develop and get the playing time that he needs in the AHL. I am finding it hard to find any basis for your opinion of him being slow/inadequate/etc.

The Blackhawks went 2 - 4 - 1 in the pre-season...nobody gives a shit though because it is the pre-season. When the Blackhawks lost in the WCF to the Red Wings they went 0 - 6 in the pre-season.

Yeah, I am referring to preseason. As much as I would like Emery to work on this team, I don't know if he will. I'm just saying I have doubts about this move.

Did you see how Emery played for Anaheim last year. He put up starter numbers. He'll be fine, he is coming into a new team, a new defense he has to learn and communication between the guys.

If backup goalie is the biggest worry of fans, give the Blackhawks the Stanley Cup right now :D

Anaheim is different than Chicago. I'm not saying that he won't do well, I just have doubts about him. I have doubts about Salak too. I just felt like there was a bias because Emery is a vet.

If you have doubts on both then who cares. Emery is going to get spot starts here and there. As long as he can come in and do his job, and Salak can develop in Rockford then the Hawks made the right choice. Emery on the Hawks roster saves some cap, and allows Salak to develop.
