There's a couple problems with the whole Soler for Inciarte thing:
1. It's a terrible move from a value perspective. You're giving up a young, cost-controlled OF with amazing tools and middle of the lineup power for a slightly above average defensive specialist who's already at his ceiling. Soler will hit 5-6 and you'd be trading him for a guy who's going to hit 9th and bump Russell up. The Cubs could wait and pick up one those at the deadline for much less than Soler.
2. Making the trade removes one of the few RH bats from your lineup and adds another LH bat. The Cubs would become extremely left-handed.
3. Inciarte does not profile well to what the Cubs look for in a hitter. He is not patient and rarely walks.
Thanks for the input guys. Honestly, I didn't know much about his game until I heard the Cubs inquired about him. I just saw his defensive rating was higher than Heywards and he hit 303 in his 2nd year last year. He is also young and under team control for a while.
However, I do like Soler and his cannon of an arm. Plus, he hits the high velocity fastball pretty well. I tend to agree with others here as well that Theo will not make a move without getting value, and I trust whatever moves he makes.
Furthermore, if we are going to make only one more move, I'd also rather it be for another pitcher.
