Have any favorite/interesting/informative quotes? I have a file of several hundred; poems, speeches, random literature, etc. Go:

Not to be born is best
when all is reckoned in, but once a man has seen the light
the next best thing, by far, is to go back,
back where he came from, quickly as he can.
For once his youth slips by, light on the wing
lightheaded...what mortal blows can he escape
what griefs won't stalk his days?

-Sophocles, Oedipus at Colonus-

Always one of my Fav's:

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be ***,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on that sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

I've got about 100 pages worth of quotes from various philosophers, comedians, movies, writers ext... that I've taken down over the years

Here are a few:

"Strong minds discuss ideas, average minds discuss events, weak minds discuss people." ― Socrates

“Here’s to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes… the ones who see things differently — they’re not fond of rules… You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things… they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.” - Steve Jobs

"The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing." - Socrates

"Hell is not a place you go if you're not a Christian. It's the failure of your life's greatest ambitions." - Immortal Technique

"You know, women call men dogs. That's to suggest we're somehow untrustworthy or disloyal. But a dog is anything but. And if men are dogs, what the goddamn hell does that make women? You've ever seen a ***** in heat? She will grind herself across the grass to try and get her that itch. And she can find a way to sneak out of the backyard, as any dog will do." - Russell Crowe(Broken City)

"When I come out I have supreme confidence. But I'm scared to death. I'm afraid. I'm afraid of everything. I'm afraid of losing. I'm afraid of being humiliated. But I'm confident. The closer I get to the ring the more confident I get. The closer, the more confident. All during training I've been afraid of this man. I think this man might be capable of beating me. I've dreamed of him beating me. For that I've always stayed afraid of him. The closer I get to the ring the more confident I get. Once I'm in the ring I'm a god. No one could beat me. I walk around the ring but I never take my eyes off my opponent….During the fight I'm supremely confident. I'm making him miss and I'm countering. I'm hitting him to the body; I'm punching him real hard. And I'm punching him, and I'm punching him, and I know he's gonna take my punches. He goes down, he's out. I'm victorious. Mike Tyson, greatest fighter that ever lived." - Mike Tyson

I have better Mike Tyson quotes:

Before fight with Lennox Lewis

“I'm gonna rip his heart out. I’m the best ever. I’m the most brutal and vicious, the most ruthless champion there has ever been. No one can stop me. Lennox is a conqueror? No! He’s no Alexander! I’m Alexander! I’m the best ever. I’m Sonny Liston. I’m Jack Dempsey. There’s never been anyone like me. I’m from their cloth. There is no one who can match me. My style is impetuous, my defense is impregnable, and I’m the ferocious. I want his heart! I want to eat his children! Praise be to Allah!”

After fight with Lennox Lewis

"He (Lennox Lewis) was just splendid, a masterful boxer. I take my hand off to him"

"I don't know, man, I guess I'm gonna fade into Bolivian."

Not to be critical of your quote that you like. You like what you like.
But I might be missing something. Those that resist or don't resist are destined to perish. Right?

“Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will.”

“If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.”

― Frederick Douglass
