Passed with exactly the 5 votes of the 7 commissioners it needed! A long process with a vastly positive chain of residents speaking and now Orlando is within 30 days of finalizing the deal with the league to be Team #21!

Great news. Curious to see how the fan base comes together. Good for them though.

Now, fix Chivas, and fix the schedule with the winter break included and I'll be satisfied......... For now. Good news though for sure.

Sounds like it was a false alarm on the schedule change actually.

Also, would like to point out that the two "City"'s will enter the league in the same season.

Is Phil Rawlins the only owner of the team? Does he have the funds to complete with the likes of LA, NY, Portland, Seattle? or Is he more likely to complete with the likes of Chicago, Columbus, New England?

C'mon Atlanta! My wife and I are relocating there in the spring and having a MLS team to follow would be nice. I'm not thrilled they'd play in an NFL stadium, though.

They'll get their team, all but certain. But it won't be until 2017, and this will be a Seattle situation, not a New England mishap.

On ESPC FC they mentioned how adding teams stretches out the players that are available causing players that aren't MLS-level to play causing a drop in overall game play and talent in the league.

Anyone have any thoughts on that?

That's what they say about every American sports league.

My counter, are you seriously making the claim that this league lowered in quality overall between 2005 and 2012? This is soccer, there is an almost infinite talent pool of players, and new rich ownership groups bring in more DP's. (e.g. NYCFC with huge pockets, and Orlando supposedly set to bring in Kaka).

that maybe true on draft day, but drafts are not as important in Soccer. If the money is there they will come. another team with millions to spend will bring players here.

on that note, you would think Miami would have a more success as a ream with how much larger the market is.

Orlando averages around 10K in division III though, Miami doesn't seem to have quite the same soccer culture, and are getting one of the expansion teams anyway.

Orlando got 20K in the Championship game so it's a good sign. I really hope MLS doesn't give Miami a team because we all know their fans suck.
