I realize this is Fox news, and THAT in of itself, will start the whole left wing/right wing media BS going; this story just happened to catch my eye this morning. Obviously these guys weren't too bright, unless you want to buy a "family" of marines hanging out together, on their off-time, in uniform.http://video.foxnews.com/v/4605136/fake-marines-busted-by-border-patrol/?playlist_id=86856

In a "fake" government vehicle, crossing the border from Tijuana no less. Sad thing is that it probably worked for the Coyotes a number of times before they got caught.

Hahah, my favorite part was. "They all had uniforms with the name Perez on it, and that is a clue for us in law enforcement."

Correct me if I'm wrong but if one wears the uniform of their enemy combatant during times of war and they get caught they can pretty much count on being disposed of. Am I right? I say they should have offed these dicks at the border and made it public. Not only are these eh-holes skirting the system to be here illegally but to do it in OUR countries uniform? Put a bullet in their head, nothing good can come from letting these guys go.

You're thinking of the Articles of the Geneva Convention. It only applies if you are at war with that country. If a person is captured in the uniform of the enemy he is not to be afforded treatment as a prisoner-of-war but as a spy. We are not at war with Mexico in that sense.

What I find funny about this was the headline that went by "How did they get the fatigues?"

umm. Its pretty easy alot of soldiers outfit themselves personally through retailers. Most of my gear i bought myself when I was in the army at rangerjoes.com. You can totally outfit yourself there. You can even buy IBA.

You guys buy your own uniforms? They have to be approved by the army once you buy them right? I saw a news report like 5 years ago that in bazaars in Iraq you could by US uniforms. And that some insurgents were buying them to use in attacks. So it doesn't surprise me that these guys would do it.

Yes you buy your own uniforms. You get an annual "Uniform Allowance" that in no way covers everything. Believe it or not, your initial crap issued to you during basic, you technically pay for, that is your initial uniform allowance. I can't speak for the Army/Marines or Air Force, depending on what you are talking about you have something called organizational clothing too, that you could do a one for one swap with. If you're in good with the Chop (supply Officer) or the supply weenies, they could order stuff for you too.

I remember as a kid, you could walk into any Montgomery Wards store and they sold every uniform known to man. Military, Police, firemen, boy scouts. Here now a days, you go to any thrift store or Army/navy store in a 5 mile radius of any military base, same thing, everybody that gets out sells/donates them there.

Yeah you get an allowance for uniforms, but like me alot of other soldiers liked to actually "own" their other gear as well. You kept your uniform but had to give back the other gear issued to you, alot of guys bought their own KPOT(helmet) LBV(Load Bearing vest) Ruck, alice pack, IBA(interceptor body armor) etc. I have my own lbv and kpot, the iba was too damn expensive.

Its unfortunate but for iraq initially alot of guys HAD to buy their own body armor, the army didnt meet the demand with that shit.

At first in Iraq after major combat they were sending soldiers out on patrols without IBA. They corrected that quickly, of course it took em longer to fix the humvees.

I picked up an East German Luftwaffe looking dress uniform at my local Army/Navy store for a Halloween costume.

The quickness of that correction depends. If you go out on patrol without that ceramic plate, soon, isnt soon enough. Theres a video on youtube of some insurgent snipers that sniped a US soldier and were all Allah akbar till they realized they shot him in his plate and he was perfectly fine.

I found the video:

idiots, lol.

Yeah there are a few of those videos. Because our guys go down when they get hit even though they aren't hurt. It seems like the Taliban use snipers more than the Iraqi insurgents did. But those IBA plates are very good. They can take AK fire for sure. I don't know exactly what sniper rifles they use but they work for that too. Unfortunately some are learning to aim high now after seeing the videos.
