Family Summer Vacation Battle with The Wife

I don't see any family vacation threads stickied, so sorry if this sort of thing has already been posted in the bar, but here goes...


My wife and I are in a HUGE argument about our Summer vacation destination and it's barely Spring!

She's never been to the biltmore estate even though she spent her youth years in South Carolina, and she thinks the Blue Ridge Mountains would be fun for the little ones to see.

I've never been myself, only seen that big ass house in that Hannibal movie, and thought it was pretty cool.

But I'm more of a beach guy when it comes to a vacay destination this year, plus I"m kind of conservative and heard that Asheville is really liberal so it might get on my nerves. I thought maybe we could try to meet halfway visiting Biltmore on our way back home (this will be a road triop)

But I have NO idea what a good value would be for a beach rental (I definitely need Air Conditioning because I heard it gets really sweaty hot down there)

Any good recommendations on beach destinations in NC???

This might just save my marriage guys. Looking forward to any good suggestions (not troll suggestions, douche)

I lost the battle of vacation this year to my wife. I wanted Mexico, she wanted Disney with the kids. She won, spent two nights in Anaheim for Disney and then drove to and stayed in Venice in LA for the last two nights.

Conditions were though, that I pick the next destination for the next vacation. Greece, Bahamas, Italy, are on the list. I might make out OK since I plan on going to Las Vegas this fall for a sporting event as well.

Vrbo is good, we looked there, but we used AirBNB for the place we stayed in Venice Beach. I will note though, when we got to our apartment in Venice it looked as one of the beds wasnt made and cleaned. We mentioned it to the host, and he was there on 7 minutes and changed and cleaned everything by hand and was overly apologetic.

Maybe on your vacation to the Blue Ridge Mountains you'll end up wanting to stay there and then in a few years you'll actually move there.
