i don't think that a prize would be a good idea. i think we should just do it for fun.

Well, I guess bragging rights will be suffice. I am glad to see people interested, especially a moderator. Once I learn what ESPN offers, I will ask you guys to help me constitute the rules, be the "founding fathers" if you will. Hopefully everyone will enjoy and we can continue this annually.

Thank you very much Clonetrooper. Here are my ideas and hopefully you all can give me your feedback, it is needed and appreciated.

So far we have 6 people in including myself, Clonetrooper, Bullsman 24, The Stig, ZombieKevie, and Mlewinth. I would rather not have my friends involved and make this strictly a forum league. So we need some more people.

I would like at least 12 teams if possible. Seperated into two conferences. If I can get 16 people, we can have 4 divisions with 4 teams each. We can do something bully like name the divisions, conferences after Bulls players. Don't laugh, they did it in hockey for years...

16 teams is streching it, but it is also more challenging. Again, I will take 12, 14, 16, even 10 if I have to.

The draft would be in the middle of October, getting a day and time that all owners are comfortable with.

All owners will be allowed to keep 2 or 3 players a season, the rest of the roster will be put back in the draft.

Each team will have 10 starters and 3 bench players.

Playoffs can be the rules used by ESPN (4 Teams, 2 weeks for each matchup) or can be expanded. All other teams would go to the lottery (more on that later).

The Draft will be snake style, order will be randomly picked by ESPN and you can actually practice the draft, because once the draft starts, I am not stoppin unless one of ya'll is pregnant and about to deliver (well even then your team goes to autopick)!

Scoring is head to head, I would like to somehow simulate a season to the point that we can end up with 82 games by playoff time if possible, so I would break down the amount of stats used to that particular amount. This is the page that covers the scoring options...http://games.espn.go.com/fba/content?page=fbarulesscoringcustom2010

As far as the lottery, I used to know how to make a lottery using Visual Basic when I was in school, with odds and everything. Does anyone on here know how to do that? We could have it done in a public forum, like maybe have Fred or Kush (Doug is too busy)conduct it every year. That way there is no suspicion of foul play. The order to pick will then be given on that particular show for the first time, I nor any other owner will know beforehand. Maybe Doug can help me figure out a lottery application since he has taken programming? That is about a year away so we have time. The odds can be done by using the consolation ladder. The winner would actually have the best odds of winning the lottery. The danger in that is that the fifth best team could actually have the best odds to win the lottery. Or we can go by winning percentage. If we do winning percentage, hopefully the consolation ladder can be voided and not used at all.

Okay, that is enough for now, everyone give your opinions and hopefully we can have a fun and smooth running league.

I actually plan on majoring in comp sci in college so I can do a lottery generator type thing. It's just a simple random number generator.

one of my homies is asking the IT consultant at his job if he will code up one. I want something with some nice visuals, would love to have the balls with different colors, or even the logos from each team involved. I would ask one of the moderators to conduct the lottery. We can always have the lottery sent through email to other people.

Great Bullseye, great to have you aboard. While I am unemployed, I am going to be up all kind of hours...let me know what times you are available, if you understand American time zones...I want to accomodate you as much as any other owner in the league. Understand though that most of us are in the U.S. so we will have things like the draft and the draft lottery at a certain time.

But again, I will be awake to answer your questions and to hopefully give you any help/info on a timely basis. I hope someone will assist me when needed though. I will just need someone to tend to the needs of fellow owners and answer questions when I am not available. Any volunteers, let me know.

We need 3 more owners. If I get 3, teams will be finalized October 1st, if not we will go as far as we can until we get 10.

Whoever we use, head to head will definitely be the format.

Thats the best format, its better than rotissere, and it gives everybody a chance to compete,
I've been in both, once you get behind in a rotissere league, its hard to make up those points, Head-to-Head always gives you a chance to bounce back after a bad week.

The only reason I dislike money prizes is because I have heard of players getting together and agreeing to sabotage a league and splitting the prize money. If I have a bad team and another guy is in second place, he may approach me with an offer of taking my player and giving me so much of the prize money if he wins. In that case, what do I have to lose? I would rather have some sort of a prize available that is an item of value. I am trying to work on that now. Getting an autographed basketball or jersey is something I am more interested in doing. Again, suggestions are welcomed and needed.

I don´t care much about the prices. I don´t expect to win anything and if I do, the shipping costs will be higher than the worth of the price :D
