Steve young literally went 3-0 in Super Bowls in the late 80s and early 90s as a dual threat quarterback. That’s always been my comparison for Justin.

Its literally happened in the past and it is very much part of the future of the NFL whether that makes you comfortable or not.

Stop being stuck in early 2000 football where ,yA gOtTa dRoP bAcK aNd sTaNd iN tHe pOcKeT tO WiN!!!!’

So he’s run more than he’s thrown this year? His pass yards to rush yards isn’t over 2-1? His pass touchdowns aren’t right at about league average?

Dude his runs are fucking insane. How the hell does he rip them off week to week like that? Honestly his first year I was surprised by how slow he looked. Must’ve been a Nagy thing

Hes just more decisive and comfortable in what he's doing. Amazing what a difference it makes, both in what you mentioned and in sacks taken.

So league average is bad for a second year quarterback?

Also, you’re trying to strike up a straw man argument.

My original position was that Fields is primarily a passer, which the stats most certainly reflect.

Please try to stay on topic.

He's just upset because his mother made him stay in his room during thanksgiving dinner. They didn't want to be embarrassed with him around the rest of the family.

Yeah that makes sense.

Yeah. I asked before and am interested what Bear's fans think about the qualities that the Bear's might look at for a back-up quarterback? I think that maybe they should consider drafting a very mobile athletic guy in the 5th or 6th round that can run some of the same kind of plays that they will call for Fields. What do you think?

dumb idea. too many other needs with plenty of cheap backups in FA. PS ready to play chess yet?

What the hell is wrong with you? You can't see the guy's great talent? You can't see his upside? Why in the hell are you on a football board? A Chicago Bear's football board at that?

To my knowledge, none of us here has talked about Fields being the best quarterback in the NFL. But to be blind to the guy's great talent is just really stupid. To talk like you do means one of two things. Either you are really dumb when it comes to evaluating football talent OR(and probably worse), you just are being a jerk and a pain in the ass.

Lord knows that there are enough real jerks on this board who are masquerading as supposedly smart people based on their political bent. Why don't you try a bit not to be a pain in the ass about saying stupid things relative to football?

Actually, I'd propose that they cut out a lot of what they try to do for Fields and just get the passer that can win while Fields recovers.

This offensive line needs work and the weapons Fields has are still subpar and must be improved. That meabs a great deal for the backup. With an adequate team around him, a less athletic backup QB should be able to manage to perform adequately.
