I like BB King a lot but don't know a lot of more underground type blues artists from the 50s and 60s. Anybody got any good suggestions? I need to update my playlists...

  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Nebraska Cornhuskers
  2. Villanova Wildcats
The easy suggestion would be to just find the original writing credits for Led Zeppelin.....

At ISU there was this place I'd go to nearly every Friday for lunch, called Jake's Pizza. Place had 2 slices of deep dish and a pop for $5, for a college guy this ruled. Anyways, they only played blues music. And their walls were decorated with pencil drawings of great blues artists. I learned a fucking ton from Jake and his son talking to those jamokes about the Blues. Place was torn down to make way for corporate America, maaaaaan.

Here's a good list of starters:
Willie Brown
Mississippi John Hurt
Blind Willie Johnson
Bessie Smith
Memphis Slim
Muddy Waters
Bo Diddley
Buddy Guy
John Lee Hooker
Howlin' Wolf
Willie Dixon
Etta James
Koko Taylor
Louisiana Red
Walter Trout
Stevie Ray Vaughn

Just download everything by John Lee Hooker and then realize that its the only blues worth investing that much time in.

John Mayall's Bluesbreakers group was big in the 60s. It hosted Eric Clapton, Peter Green and Mick Taylor all as it's lead guitarist at some point

More early 70's but Rory Gallagher was the man from across the pond. My old man seen him live in Germany on his way back from Vietnam and said he was Ace live. He's a blue's junky.

Rory Gallagher was a great guitar player. I saw him love at a horrible venue, The Randhurst Ice Arena. The worst place to see a concert, but it was worth it to see RG live.

Just go to all the fat possum label guys from the delta. **** all the clean bubble gum blues shit go get your self some dirty gritty delta blues guys and gals. They are the gangsters of the blues genre those fat possum guys and gals. Try Cedell Davis. That ****** had polio and blued his shit uuuup in a wheel chair playing with crippled hands. Dude started using a butter knife to play slide cause he cant play proper chords with his mangled hand. Guys bad ass, dirty and will **** your ass. He is out of tune all the time and the pretty boys just cant handle that shiiiiiiiit...yaaaaahhhhh

But if you just want gangster rap from the 80s and 90s I have heard of this unusual group...i think they are called NWA or something like that. Not many people know of them. You are welcome.

I wouldn't call them underground, but Albert King and Buddy Guy are two of my favorites.
