No such thing as ripping off the blues masters

He covered them much like hundreds of thousands of songs that have been covered

Clapton has done more for blues that anyone in Blues history. Without him propagating the music form it would have been dead in the mid 60s. He is the one that brought Buddy Guy and Albert and Freddie King into the big stadiums. Without Clapton they would have been playing 30 seat clubs into obscurity. White artists like Clapton, Beck, John Mayall as the reason anyone knows who Robert Johnson is

Without Clapton the Blues would be dead on a large scale

Also George Harrison should have put a cap in his ass.

I know you are being funny, but try and imagine trying to be a bluesman without drawing heavily from the ones the came before you.

Yup, take a song like "key to the highway" which is considered a blues classic. It was first recored in 1941 but every blues musician in the world has played it. So, that means that every blues artist since 1941 has ripped off this song. LOLOLO

Well trying to be funny poorly but as far as personal tastes in blues without getting into heavy technicalities of musicianship? I personally have never been overwhelmed by his sound, his mechanics, his charisma nor his vocalization for the blues as a genre. That just personal tastes shit coming into play here. No disrespect to him or his fanbase as he has to have done something right through his career to garner the acclaim he has. Just not my blues style taste. Dare i say he sounds too white washed for me without that sounding racist? Perhaps lacking the soul of it which i am drawn to with the blues more than the actual technical musicianship?

I'm a delta blues, hill country blues, Hokum blues, and to a lesser extent a swamp blues fan and Piedmont blues (even though its difficult to separate some of these sometimes). Clapton simply doesn't fill my tastes in those sub genres that I enjoy most.
