So, Roman war dogs, Burque? If you're going for the face-murder route, why not a dogo argentino? Them be some badasses.

Just out of curiosity I had to look this one up

Dogo Argentino

More cane Corso in tact.

Both Canes and Argentinos get their ears and tails cropped when they're pups due to their function; otherwise they'd be floppy. Kind of like American bull terriers.

Yes, but my dog is not going to fight anything other than an intruder.

No need to crop.

Pretty vanilla here, but I am a fan of labs. Easy to train, friendly, big and often athletic, can swim, etc.

No reason to crop anymore. Vets are starting to refuse and even the AKC is beginning to approve un-cropped dogs. Very few are using these dogs for their original purpose. People with self esteem/insecurity issues may want them to look mean so that the dog might be more intimidating but it is an out-dated practice, IMHO.

For the record, I grew up with Akitas and Rotties and have owned Rotties as an adult, so I am familiar with big dogs.

Right now we have three Scottish terriers who are great but high strung. Moved to a condo, a giant, which we would love to have isn’t in the cards.

Got her about 4 months ago. 2½ years old, not sure what she is. The shelter peeps guessed part black lab, beagle, bulldog/pit...
She's a handfull and high energy. Love's to snuggle up to get scratched too.

P.S. I told my wife the dog has man-hands. :) She stretches all the time and spreads her paws apart. You can kind of see it in the first pick. She's 35# of muscle and goes absolutely nuts at times.

I have always liked Huskies and Elkhounds.....I have owned both. My Elkhound was 17 when he passed and I now have a 3 year old Husky......Huskies are a fucking handfull....

I also had an Elkhound, great dog, but that shedding......

Thing is with Elkhound owners, no one seems to ever get a second one. One & done type of breed.

We have a lab. Used to not be a big fan of dogs, but my wife made me see the light. She got a lab and I love that dog. Too much energy but also too much sass sometimes.

English Mastiffs. I have 2. The oldest is a male closing in on 12 years old. Probably that once in a lifetime dog. Couldnt ask for better. Perfect low energy dogs. Wanna veg out and relax and watch tv all day, then cool because they are totally fine with that. But they are working dogs and are just as fine spending the day out doing stuff. We used to take him hiking a lot and he would go all day if you wanted. Also good family dogs. Mine love kids. We are foster parents and the mastiffs are a great icebreaker for when kids first come to our home.

This is Bear.
