Football Outsiders obviously doesn't watch Bears games because if they did, they would see that there were games that were directly lost due to poor secondary play. I get it that the offense sucked last year, but if we had a decent secondary we could have won 2-3 more games last year with a shitty offense.
Although I love fantasy football, it's not real football. It seems like all the naysayers and pundits are looking at it from a fantasy football perspective, and whether the Bears offense can put up numbers. Although I'd love for them to put up numbers, what I want more are wins. Winning will help a QBs development as much as anything. Having a defense and running game will take the pressure off of Fields, and allow him to develop naturally. If a QB has to regularly throw 40+ times a game, it means their defense sucks and they are constantly playing from behind. Although it's a decent formula for finding a sleeper QB pick in your fantasy draft, it's not for a winning football team. There's many flash in the pan QBs that put up decent numbers on a crappy team. That's not what I want out of Fields. I want him to be part of a team that wins consistently. That means we need to have effectiveness in all 3 phases. I don't give a shit if anybody on the Bears is worth having on a fantasy football team, as long as they are winning games.
In the end what I want out of Justin Fields is the ability to win games. Fuck the stats and fantasy points.
