Getsy need to adjust
This part.

I get what Dan Wiederer says. However, DC's scheme to stop the whole offense, not just one player.
Going into the Bucs game....Getsy has to get Moore and Mooney more involved. And Roshon Johnson has
to be used more in the running game.
Roschon is destined only to be used on special teams. That’s all, sorry. @cameronkrazie86

Just curious how many running plays you want called for Fields? 5? 10? 15?

5-8 a game seems like a decent number to me. (in addition to scrambles)

For me, ideally I'd like to see him get a designed run early to start each half. Not saying the first play or two of the half but within the first couple possessions of each half. I want him to have the freedom to scramble if nothing is there but be willing to slide to avoid the big hits as much as possible.

I just don't know what this offense's identity is supposed to be though. I don't understand how you don't have DJ Moore as focal point #1 when you're listing game objectives. Two targets is a travesty. They didn't rush the ball well at all with the exception of Fields. They had 14 passes behind the line of scrimmage and only 5 further than 10 yards. It seemed like a gameplan designed to not turn the ball over and rely on your (horrendous) defense. It doesn't fit with the talent on the team and was readily apparent early in the game.

As many know, I used to be a fan of the Texans before they pivoted to being a religious org masquerading as a professional football. The Texans went through some horrendous, horrendous QBs but they always knew to get the ball to Andre Johnson or DeAndre Hopkins. When in doubt, just throw it in the direction of DeAndre and let him make a play.

The Bears don't have an identity on offense or defense aside from sucking.

Without watching any tape, my initial reaction was that Justin played fairly well. I love that the coaching staff has instilled in him to use his check down. Take what the defense gives you and live to fight another down. This is the main criticism that many gave Justin last year. He was too focused on the deep shot. Now its the opposite.

The problem, to me, is still a lack of pass protection. 4 sacks allowed against GB, and many more were evaded. Bears slso didn't use him with designed runs like the middle to end of last season.

Never underestimate the Bears ability to take people in positions of importance that make you say "They couldn't possibly do worse" and they always manage to make you look stupid.

Great highlights !

I just checked.......luke getsy has twitter account. Someone should send him these highlights.
Plus.....these highlights definitely prove JF can and does get rid of the ball quickly.

Yes, how do you not understand this? I was pounding the table last year about this same issue, stop the running and work on his weaknesses so he could actually develop as a QB.

We are not winning the Superbowl this year so find out if he can be a real passer. Once the team is built to actually contend you can get a more balanced attack with him.. but right now force him to work on his weaknesses

There are too many people willing to blame everyone but Fields. The coaching staff is not coaching him to pass up open guys downfield to check down.

More likely is that in having it drilled into him in checking down if guys are not open downfield, he has gone overboard and is doing it in situations he shouldnt.

That is normal when you are learning something not natural to you and the question is whether he can find the proper balance or not.

He has proven he can throw downfield and he has proven he can check down successfully. Now he just needs to learn in which situations to do the former vs the latter to the point it becomes natural to him.

.JF is still developing. A competent OC and Qb coach would emphasize the proper balance. As @Anytime23 and I have noticed....JF is not the same Qb as in the video below.....

Jesus Christ. To think they are not emphasizing proper balance is silly. In the end, Fields has to figure it out. Some people do and some people don't. We don't know which Fields is yet.

Now if you want to argue about play design or scheme then fine but it is really stupid to pretend that they are out there coaching him to check down when guys are open all over the field. Fields needs to pull the fucking trigger. Getsy can't throw the ball for him.

the problem is that this video is the exception to the rule, Which is why Forcing him to continue to develop as a passer would hopefully make those kinds of games more the norm.

Possibly moving off his reads too fast and not letting them develop before hitting the checkdown

He didn't run the ball in college. He's had to do it in the NFL because the Chicago Bears offense and talent on offense is worse than that of a college team.
Well that and NFL defenses are considerably more advanced too.

So I’m as guilty of this as anyone, but we really need to stop sharing Fields highlights. His highlights are amazing. It’s why people (including me) don’t want to give up on him. But any fair analysis of Fields needs to include the times he misses open guys, the times he doesn’t throw the ball away, the sacks he takes and the turnovers. If you only watch the highlights he looks like a top 5 QB. But thats just not reality.

OK we're in agreement then. 10 is definitely the number I don't want to pass. (for health reasons as much as anything)
That would be the # including scrambles. Never want to approach that many called runs but yes, we need to call enough for it to remain a threat or else he needs to get a lot better at normal QB stuff. The caveat is that right now, the normal QB stuff is also hindered by his protection. I expect that to improve during the 1st few weeks but no guarantees. He also needs to do those things lots better when he does have time.

This and you expect improvement on those negs over time. It's what made game one so depressing. Those things actually looked worse than at times last year but in a really odd way. You could see him going through his progressions in a timely manner but he wasn't 'seeing' the field. Now, it's easy to say that from an all22 and they all miss full reads but this was like he missed most or almost all of them.

I like mobility but also think you're more likely to win NFL playoff games from the pocket. Let's hope he's guy where it looks like somebody hit's the light switch because that game did not look like his recognition was progressing. His progressions, motion, leadership, etc all look appropriate but the reads and results sure weren't there on Sunday.

Isn't it (not) funny how many 'religious' entities tend to enable child molesters, heathens holding bibles upside down and Watson.

Reminds me of my week after eating the Sichuan boiled beef at Mapo in Naperville. Devastating.

On topic, QBs running the ball is fun and flashy but gimmicky. Fields needs to increase his passing vision first.
