And of course, the best film classical theme of all-time, Main Theme Edward Scissorhands by Danny Elfman. A new classic for Romantic music. As swooning in emotion as it is gliding in ethereal space. Great all-around film score as well.

Is there a better symphonic theme than this? What is it?

What is really curious is the lack of awards, let alone nominations. Would you believe the original score received no Academy nominations? But was nominated for a Grammy "Best Instrumental Composition Written for a Motion Picture or for TV"

Below is the 2:37 title theme. The expanded composition is 5:39 here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Uil_moZTQk

Clint Mansell does some very good work as well:

He's a guy that, clearly, put in his time studying music (formerly or not). So much of his work is reminiscent of mid/mature Arvo Pärt. Good shit.

For those not versed: Arvo Pärt was the progenitor of "tintinambulation" (the "rounding [tolling] of the bells") -- a musical process in which a repetitious [see "rounding" or "circumambulation"] motif that resembles the tolling of church bells (utilization of harmonic content and constant rhythmic repetition) is the primary theme that is augmented and diminuted throughout the composition. It's an extension of minimalism in a way, but with an eye further into the past to techniques such as idee fixe [see Berlioz, Symphonie Fantastique].
