I agree but I don't blame Kevin White.

Two other Bears in that area should have realized they had no shot at the catch and positioned themselves to push White in. He needed help, I think if Burton had anticipated White making the catch he could have been there and drove him in, but he was hoping for a deflection bounce and didn't anticipate the play....pick your poison.

It was damn close, but the issue was he was stood up immediately and had no leverage to drive.

Metal rods aside, I thought White could have lunged or lowered his head to make it into the endzone. Instead he tried to run it completely upright. Oh well, water under the bridge now.

#1 - White didn’t get to the end zone. Sorta like that maddening Bear habit of wide receivers running routes 1 or 2 yards short . . .

#2 - “Which” Mitch’s Hail Ginny didn’t get to the end zone anyway, underthrown it was like so many others today . . .

LOL..."underthrown". He threw it 60 yards with a defender in his face right into White's chest. I don't know how you could expect much more out of a QB in that situation.

I'm not faulting anyone on that final play, except maybe the o-line.

Not Trubisky---he had a good shot to the goal line even with a guy in his face and unable to follow through on his throw. (Watching it in real time, I thought it was going to be a dying quail because of that, but he muscled through----good on him.)

Not White---he made the damn catch at its high point and judged it exactly right! The Patriots were just in the perfect position behind him to stop him from getting across the line. If there's one less Patriot there or they misplayed it a bit, that's a touchdown. Gotta tip the cap to them AND to Kevin White for almost making it happen.

It was a damn good play, just came up one yard short. Almost. If it would've been a touchdown, it would've been a miracle. I'm not faulting anyone for not making a miracle happen.

Let’s be honest, if the ST didn’t give up two scores we would have one that game!

There's plenty of blame to go around, but the Special Teams is clearly #1 on that list. Mitch didn't have the greatest game, but I've got a tough time faulting him and the offense too much, considering they outscored the Patriots offense 31-24.

31 points should be enough to win a game.

That play should have been set up that there were Bears in the area he could have lateraled to.

If there were any Bears immediately behind him, I like their chances to push him in. By the time White's teammates got over, he was already pushed too far back and it was over. But hell, hail marys are a chaotic crapshoot. Hard for me to say during a catch on a hail mary, "Damn, they should have done ____"

I did think it was kind of cool that Gabriel ran over from the endzone and tried to strip the ball from White, would have been cool. He had the right idea.

special teams was the difference period.

and this is not a # 2 defense so lets get that out there.

the offense put 31 pts on the board.

agreed! Funny watching all this criticism of a new, young offense in week 6 putting up 31 pts while your supposed #1 defense gives up 24 and ST 14.

Besides the oline, which still needs obvious work, I thought the offense did well considering.

I know the angle looks like he got in but you are aware the NFL reviewed the play and he never broke the plane with the ball
