I honestly have no idea. If the running game, TEs, and OL are much improved, and Trubisky uses his legs and is able to lean on the aforementioned running game, TEs, and OL, then we could be a very good team if our defense stays healthy.

If things start to fall apart and Trubisky and Nagy start being the Trubisky and Nagy of 2019, then I feel sorry for this defense. Lol.

The optimism of being undefeated as of right now says we'll be 11-5 or 10-6. 7-9 if it's a return of the 2019 Chicago Bears. Keeping my fingers crossed!

8-8.

I have a feeling the defense will take a step back this year. Goldman being out is going to hurt them, Aikeem Hicks is always banged up, so is Robert Quinn, and not having a reliable SS could prove costly.

Offensively, unless Trubisky proves capable or Nick Foles can play like he did down the stretch for Philly, this has disaster written all over it. No real upgrades on that offensive line, David Montgomery is too slow, Tarik Cohen regressed, Allen Robinson is still the only reliable target at WR, no TE threats.. It doesn't look good.

The general enthusiasm for this year is noticeably different compared to last season. Last year, on paper, they looked to be about as good as any team in the league, and we expected Trubisky to take another jump in year 3. Given his regression, it changes the entire outlook of the team. If you don't have a competent quarterback, nothing else really matters. This is also why I felt like they needed to double down on QB additions in the off-season (draft one and sign one), which they didn't do. Now they could be stuck with two backups and no prospect waiting in the wings to develop.

I hope I'm wrong, but right now I'm not feeling too great.

I think the defense is top 5, and the offense does just enough to keep the team competitive. They either somehow miss the playoffs, or lose in the first round. Trubisky plays average ball and the Bears head into the offseason with a lose lose proposition at quarterback moving forward. I'm an optimist.

I agree with you, Sevv. If the OL greatly improves...
that is, they know their assignments and practice the basic techniques properly, then I think the TEs will naturally be on the same page. Monty is functional, and has proven his ability to take his tackle breaking ability to the NFL to gain an extra yard or two.

If that happens -- which I'd put at about 50/50 chance -- adding a decent running-game dimension, and some open TE targets, will make the offense at least fair. And if the Def stays healthy, I think that will rack-up wins on the mostly mediocre teams they face, and a fighting chance against the better teams. Should give them 10-6 and a open door to the playoffs.

However, if Bears lose the likes of Hicks and Nichols, Mack and Quinn, every game would likely be nail-biter.

Jesus Christ.....Hicks has only been injured one year in his career since drafted in 2012, and that was last year. That is the complete opposite of always banged up. It really isn't difficult to do some research.

We will have improved QB play, regardless of who is under center. There is no way Mitch regresses. If he does, instaswap to Foles.

That said, 7-9. It still AIN'T GOOD ENOUGH.

It all depends on the OL getting unfucked and Nagy doing right by it. And REASONABLE health of course. Defense took a hit in '19 with Hicks and ILBs going down among others. Actually having a TE room exist, much less possibly become a strength is huge. But still...

As much as we've talked about the QB situation, the OL, and having TEs now, Nagy is still the wild card for me. It gave me hope at the end of last season when he talked about talking a long look at himself. I really hope he figured some shit out. Because he has been a huge liability.

If he still treats the running game like something he needs to incorporate to get the media off his back, we are in trouble.

7-9.

I have no idea why anyone would think this year will be different than last year. I hope I'm wrong.

7-9, Trubisky goes 3-4 in the first seven games, but gets benched after a terrible game against the Rams. Foles comes in and wins three straight, but gets hurt. Trubisky comes back in and goes 1-5 down the stretch.

5-11. Bears were a bottom barrel offense last year and changed it by bringing in a rookie te, a washed up te and a new o-line coach. The defense has aged two years from 2018 and lost their best asset in Fangio.

I have to think this roster it at least one win better than it was last season. Offensive coaching is the huge question mark for me.
9-7.
