Sloppy game, but glad to see we could pull out the W.

Sloppy game, but glad to see we could pull out the W.

I'm not sure what you expected considering it was the first pre-season game, but yes it was fairly sloppy throughout.

*Rose looked great physically. He hopped around, cut, attacked and went the length of the floor after a hand-off from the opposing basket several times. Its a long season and we'll have to see how his knee holds up...but until we see anything different...DR1 is back.

*I understand its pre-season but my god did Taj look great. If the Pacers thought Scola may cancel out Taj in a potential series...they got that wrong. Taj is longer, stronger and far more athletic than him. I know it is futile to say this, but Taj should start over Boozer and get closer to 30 plus minutes a game while Boozer can be the go-to guy for the 2nd unit at this point. Taj is better and its obvious....I've thought this for a while, but if he continues to nail that 15 footer with regularity the sky is the limit.

*Lu and Butler will present a long, physical challenge to opposing 2s and 3s defensively. We all already knew that but it was evident against the likes of George, Stephenson and Granger tonight. Again I understand it was a meaningless game, but I feel as if Indy's crew will have a very difficult time scoring consistently on those two. Lu threw George's shit a couple of times and forced an airball. The jury is totally out on whether or not Lu & Butler will be able to shoot it well enough next to Rose, but I'm optimistic on that for now.

*Nice to see Hill make some open shots tonight...had he made half of the open shots he made tonight Indiana may have beaten Miami last year. Nice to see him do it when it doesn't matter. Despite him shooting 3-10, he hit three open jumpers. Nice game from him tonight, which has to be refreshing for the Pacers.

*Hibbert looked out of shape to me tonight...understandable being the 1st pre-season game, but he was more plodding than usual. Lu and JB really helped down a lot on him and stripped him consistently early in the game. Again its only pre-season, but this is something to watch this year regarding the Pacers. He's such a massive man- he may really slow down this year. I'm a big fan of his game, however.

*I liked what I saw from Snell & Murphy in regards to their overall look. They didn't shoot the ball all that well, but their shots looked good. Murphy looks like Bonner reincarnated. I doubt you'll see Snell or Murphy much at all this year...but considering where the Bulls got these guys I really really like them.

*Anyone else see Vogel sneak his starters out in the last six minutes and try to win the game? He pulled them after the subs stalemated them for three minutes with three minutes to go...I thought that was a bit bizarre, but it didn't work out so well for him. Maybe he was just trying to get their minutes to a certain point...but the Pacers were extremely intense all game and seemed to have really wanted that game.

Ugly 1st pre season was to be expected. However, I thought it was a hard fought game for the 1st game. Some things I liked:

- DRose took some hits, banged knees, and even came down awkwardly, yet he seemed to be fine. Always have to get those 1st hits outa the way coming back from an injury.

- DRose also showed no fear driving the lane. This is good, although, I'd like to see him take less hits.

- MDunn looks to be a good fit for the Bulls, imo. We know he'll hit the 3, but I liked how he flowed with the defense. His help D and rotation were better than I thought. I thought it looked like he can pass a little as well.

- I think Nazr got Thibbs respect last year in the playoffs. I think we'll see more from him this year during the year. If he can get more minutes this year, he could surprise. Although, I've been wanting an upgrade at the b/u C for a while.

- I thought Jimmy looked very active for his 1st start at 2G. Deng was active as well, and should benefit from less minutes with MDunn here.

- I love the two rookies. They both have good purpose for the Bulls system and can spread the floor with their 3 shooting. You can tell that Snell is not afraid at all to shoot. I thought Murphy looked active as well. At 6'11" and can shoot the 3, he could help a lot if he can develop at all.

- For not having a lot of moves to make this off season, I like the moves that we made.

Massie sucks donkey balls
How are the Bulls supposed to beat the Heat, Pacers, Knicks etc etc etc if they cannot outscore them.
The Bulls as it stands, are a HORRIBLE offensive team.
It is what it is.
Expect the Bulls to be one of the worst offensive teams in the NBa this season.
You cannot be serious. They were going against one of the best defensive teams in the league. It is to early to tell.

Not quick enough

Based on what you stated, Jimmy is a "wing player", which means he can handle and shoot the ball well. He has better handles already than your boy Ben Gordon. A better defender than your boy J.R. Smith...he is also very athletic, possessing quickness and speed. He has to work on his handles and his shot. And I think he is too good to sit on the bench. Kudos to Paxson for drafting a good player. The team is SUPPOSED to see what their first round draft pick can do on the court.

1 more thing.
Positioning.

Butler is at his best positioning himself inside the circle.

Just a reminder.............JIMMY IS A SMALL FORWARD 1st...............that is all.

Carry on................carry on.

WHAT SMALL FORWARDS "POSITION THEMSELVES INSIDE THE CIRCLE"??? Small forwards in 2013 position themselves on the wing. Whether you like it or not. Butler is a swingman, who is adept at playing both positions. I think you got it all wrong.

I'm not sure what I was expecting either. At points it looked almost as sloppy as when I play pickup at my gym, but yeah...first game back, it's not going to be pretty. I guess what got me was all the DRose turnovers...it was just so unlike him to make some of those turnovers. Yeah he hasn't played in a year, but I guess I was just so excited to see him play again that it never really registered.

*I understand its pre-season but my god did Taj look great. If the Pacers thought Scola may cancel out Taj in a potential series...they got that wrong. Taj is longer, stronger and far more athletic than him. Agree that Taj looked very good out there, but don't think he's better Boozer. Boozer is still much better than Gibson offensively, even if it didn't show tonight. If anything, I hope Boozer's been teaching Taj those moves he's doing out there. If Taj gets that post game down and can at least get a consistent jump hook or something along with the improving midrange jumper, I think we'll be solid at PF when Boozer's gone.

lol I saw that too. I pointed it out to my roommate who was watching with me.

-"You see the Pacers playing all their starters against our bench to try to win the game?"
-"lol yup...doesn't seem to be working"

I found it pretty hilarious

Didn't we have a whole thread devoted to the fact that Butler can play both SG and SF this summer? How quickly some forget...:smh:
