I'm sure he was trying to look important. But you worry some kind of criminal or terrorist would get them. And I mean all kinds of terrorists. From Al Qadea to the guy in Colorado.

I think the article floated the idea he was playing "dress up". Somehow I think it is more than that. If he was just playing "dress up" you'd think he'd cop to that immediately rather than sit in prison until they figure it out.

I saw this too. For the ribbons and crap, you can buy those easily enough. It isnt like you have to turn in a DD-214 or something to buy em. The IDs? Well, not much of a forger so cant really speak to that...

Yeah, I think this guy had much deeper intentions than playing dress. There is an awful lot of gear there and yes, the uniforms, medals can be obtained on line or in any surplus store as Dante had said, don't need a DD214 for that. The scary part is how he got the IDs. Some badges can gotten more easily than others but the NASA and CIA badges another story. These tend to be encrypted by special software and can even be micro chipped. I work security at a nuclear plant and you can't just copy something like that. Plus this guy is a Cuban national, WTF?

Yeah, you don't give the police one of your fake ID's if you are just pretending to be someone else for no good reason.

That was supposed to be worked at a nuclear plant, but you get the point. This guy had something else up his sleeve. I also wouldn't be a damn bit surprised if he had accomplices.

I'm actually surprised with the quantity and level of security he was trying to forge, that the feds didn't swoop down on this immediately and just take over. For all we know this guy could be a spy.

Very strange to have that much shit. The fact that he's a native of Cuba makes it even more suspicious.

lemmy walks around in Germany wwll gear and he gets praised as a pop culture legend.

not saying there aren't odd signs here with issuing a fake id to the police but there seems to be a bit of fear mongering a bit also.

people do indeed collect things other than patriotic cheap plates made in China from the home shopping network.

guess we lock up and fear all of those who enjoy oddities and such? i can't wait until when they come for me for enjoying skulls and anatomy, shrunken heads and all that good stuff instead of spoons and tv guides. when they see my knives along side with my other interests i hope they automatically suggest Im planing on doing my own anatomy experiments on my neighbors.

Yah i know Im being dramatic. seems to be the thing to do and be these days.

This is different to me. It's one thing to collect the stuff, but he was altering it to have his face on badges, name on things, and also presenting it to authorities. He sat next to a guy at a memorial service for a vet, fully dressed in coast guard uniform. He has diplomatic plates or whatever on his car and a flashing light bar in his Cadillac. This isn't for show, this isn't for collecting, this is for perpetrating area's he's not supposed to be. Why else would he have flashing lights in his car and government plates on it if he wasn't getting in places he's not supposed to be.

because its fun to **** with authority and cultural and social standards sometimes? its fun to test those borders and those who like to micro manage each others lives and ideals? sometimes there is an addictive rush to this sort of behavior also. it is odd behavior for sure...that's what makes it interesting also.

Yah i understand the concerns here. after i wrote that i realised it wasn't the concerns of the public i am questioning its more so once again how the article is written. i also understand the idea of taking precautions before situations arise which may harm the innocent.

i want to know more about this story also

What reason would you have to have Homeland Security registration stickers on your vehicle? Or police lights to put on your vehicle? The guy was impersonating authority figures. For what, who the **** knows.

what purpose do i have owning a human skull? there really isn't one other than i like how they look and i like the discussion it creates sometimes. guy could just be drawing attention to himself also in a way most of us would never do. and we all try to draw attention to ourselves in one way or another.

we all also like to impersonate other figures and characters. everyone on this board does it the moment they start writing. i for one enjoy impersonate a pro hockey gm and bill hicks..even though i do it poorly. a lot of people love impersonate those of authority though....this guy May be taking it to the extremes for sure. go ahead take him in for questionings...ask around about him. i bet if nothing gets discovered other than he likes to play games that side of the story isn't told and this one goes into the vaults with the others.

Impersonating law enforcement is a crime. Owning human skulls is not.

ain't that the truth. and apparently impersonating authority is a pretty simple thing to do. looks like fun also. i mean all the cool uniforms and accessories? beats impersonating a teacher by a mile

Being from Cooba, I am shocked they didn't! This yehu has done a pretty good job til now of staying under the radar. Makes me wonder if he didn't have help. Some of those IDs are pretty elaborate to just download a pic on line. Something tells me this guy is just the tp of the sward! ( yes I misspelled it on purpose)

Has anyone thought that maybe this guy is just a master "Pick-Up Artist"?

"Yeah babe, NASA is sending me to outer space to blow up a meteor. I don't know if I'm ever coming back..."
