If you can't see that the defense, Eberflus' bread and butter, is in shambles and there's big time tension developing between the coach and players, I don't know what to tell you.

Honeymoon is over boys.

I don't believe I said anything of the kind.

What I did say is that I don't find Eberflus's comments regarding Johnson as anything extraordinary. I stand by that.

When asked if Johnson’s injury affected him, Eberflus said: “We don’t make excuses. He was out there playing. We’ve got to play.”

Yep.

I would hope the coach would not make nor accept excuses regarding any of his players.

What Eberflus actually said:

Matt Eberflus said Jaylon Johnson's performance against the Lions doesn't get excuse because of playing through an injury: "Ultimately, it's going to be up to them. If they say they can go, that means they can go. We have to trust them and we really leave it up to them."

Is that "trashing" Johnson? Eye of the beholder.

I don't see this as a big deal myself.
It's only 'trashing' if you're pathetically begging for clicks.

Flus and Johnson are the brains behind tankathon '22. They agreed Johnson would help throw the game then Flus would trash him in public for plausible deniability.

Sigler's in on it too. He may appear a little slow at times but irl he's a genius supervillain.

My main point was that if Flus had a problem with Johnson’s play he could have taken him out. He completely said it was up to Johnson.
The thing about your approach to sports journalism as you cover the bears, is you have many points interwoven even in such a brief piece. Meatballs have difficulty picking up on nuance and more delicate implications.

“Journalistic Integrity” and “Jordan Sigler” is an oxymoron. I quit opening his articles some time ago, but he makes the National Enquirer look like the New York Times compared to his click bait garbage.

An injured Jaylon Johnson is still better than the trash behind him on the depth chart. There just simply isn’t much talent or depth on this roster.

the op makes it sound so dramatic...lol
johnson played like shit, injuries or not if he doesnt think he can play well then he should have sat out...if your gonna play, you play to the expectation...simple

all that said i think johnson will be traded this offseason, he doesnt cause turnovers and will be on the last year of his deal, he would fit in better in a press man scheme

yeah, I don't know, maybe there's other gems like Sanborn hiding. when the defense gets the quarterback more consistently then Johnson won't have bad days. you know, like how great defenses do it.

its a two way street and honestly I'm glad that Flus trusts his players enough and respects their words. Johnson said himself that he was ready. Flus said they leave it up to the player. So Johnson, as a player needs to determine if he's "ready enough" to produce close to 100% of his ability. If not, then "Johnson" needs to say he's not ready because that alone can affect the D overall. Yes I know our secondary is nothing to write home to about without Johnson, but you gotta think in bigger picture terms. Once they see his weakness, they will target him... which they did, let alone the flags he got.

The two way street here is that Flus should (like Sigler mentions) have taken him out. This just goes to show how weak our secondary is. Dont be surprised if Bears go D with the first two rounds again next year cuz this is embarrassing if Johnson misses more time.

Yet you promote the content you don't like by bumping a thread about it.

I always wondered if he is a good fit for this scheme. This scheme doesn’t value CB’s as much as other schemes simply because of the higher % of zone coverage. If he can get a 2nd for him, then take it.

i think poles may have a chance at a 3rd with conditions to make it a 2nd if he plays well like pro bowl or some shit...

Don't disagree but at the same time as a HC you have to trust your best corner to pull his head out of his ass at some point
