Given the situation now, would love to have Leno on the roster. Can't imagine anyone else is worse than Massie was last year though

It’s not the FO football knowledge you should be questioning here. Ryan Pace is the one who once made Bobby Massie the 4th highest paid right tackle in the league, Charles Leno the 14th highest paid left tackle in the league, and thereby making the above quoted statement relevant.

So either Pace was completely incompetent and and offered them deals they would never have even come close to matching on the open market at the time, or they had some regard in the league at one point.
They were not well regarded at the time when Pace released them.....both statements can be true. Massie and Leno were playing well when Pace gave them contracts.....when they started playing poorly he cut them loose.....this is pretty standard football stuff

once populated by well-regarded veterans such as Charles Leno, Bobby Massie, and Kyle Long.

When the article mentions Leno, Massie, and Kyle Long all lumped together in a single sentence I didn’t get the impression that it was saying those players were all good last season. Moreso that they were all respectable together at a point in time.

The article gave me the impression that Pace was being knocked for not retaining Massie and Leno. If the rookies work out Pace will look like a genius. I have my doubts but it’s too early to call the Bears line DOA.

Were they?

Well I'm treating this as kind of a throwaway season to get the rookie QB some reps in the NFL. If the line is so bad hopefully Dalton takes most of the hits and Nagy makes a judgment call as to whether it's worth risking Justin's life and limbs this year. I'm just concerned that Nagy and Pace will be in preservation mode for their jobs and will make bad decisions based on that

How in the hell is Pace supposed to plan for the first 5 tackles on the roster all being hurt at once? Knock the Jenkins pick if there was actually something to suggest he may not be at 100% health but the others are rather fluky.
