I got that info from wikipedia, at work.
Wikipedia is a hell of a drug.
I got that info from wikipedia, at work.
Your pretty slow on the draw today. She's made 10-15 films and was a featured performer in at least one of them under the porn name Rikka Andersin. Apparently lots of anal and double penetration. Don't know if she goes ATM, but would assume so, goes with the genre. Also has done alot of exotic dancing.
She should maybe consider a career change where it won't be as big an issue. It's not like she's the only person to get out of porn and move on with her life. Was a little naieve on her part not realizing how easy it would be to ID her in the age of interwebs.
Really? Naive? You do know that becoming a teacher isn't just a process where you drop your name in a hat and you get a teaching job right? I applaud her for bettering herself and taking the steps to better her future. I think what she did was brave and empowering. I am sure she worked hard to become a teacher and she genuinely appears to love it. How is that naive? It's not her fault the rest of the world is full of prudish eh-holes that like to lash out at anyone who has ever done anything "taboo" in their past. People change, life changes around you, it takes a brave person to meet those challenges that come with change.
People need to start worrying less about harmless people like this woman and get their priorities straight as to who the "bad" people or the "bad" role models are in society. She is neither one of those from what all these stories report. She is infact a fucking inspiration and very brave in my opinion. We need more people like her. At least she didn't go on welfare or resort to crime for the rest of her life or sit around being a lazy ass after her porn career. She did something to contribute to her community and she is getting punished for it? Good grief.
Naive my ass. Those who are pushing her out of her new career are the ones that are naive in my opinion.
Well she's left teaching position's twice now and even appeared on a national syndicated talk show lamenting her past. At some point you have to quit beating your head against the wall and move on. I've already applauded her for rising above her circumstances and bettering herself. She resigned, both positions and chose not to fight and I don't blame her. How do you effectively be an authority figure for teennage boys when they find out you were porn star? Could you be an effective teacher if you were wondering how many of your students watched you get doubleteamed and go ATM? Do you think the staff/students would respect her? Do you think respect is important for a school teacher? It's noble to lament her not being able to teach but it won't change the reality of her situation. If she changes her name/appearance again and moves to a new commuinity I'll bet dollars to donuts we'll be reading the same headlines in a few years. She's better off making a career change or maybe teaching at the college level where it would be less an issue. I suppose she could teach sex education.....
Really? Naive? You do know that becoming a teacher isn't just a process where you drop your name in a hat and you get a teaching job right?
Maybe in Canada... but by this statement it would seem you've never taught in Florida.
I might add I didn't think it was naive for her to become a teacher, only that once it was public knowledge, she'd have a difficult time hiding that fact.
As I said before... After it became public knowledge, she didn't try to hide it. She went on Dr. Phil for gods sake. I mean, sure no one really watches him, but still.
As for her being Naive for becoming a teacher, I don't really see it that way, I mean for all of us to sit here and say what's the big deal and that we wouldn't care if she had done porn, then to say, but it was dumb of her to try to become a teacher, is a little backwards. If no one here cares, then it shouldn't have been naive for her to try.
Disagree. She changed her name and moved to another state. She sure as hell didn't put it on her resume.
She couldn't get a job in that state because she was outed. Why would she put something on her resume that is 15 years old and has no relevance to the current position.
My military service from 27 years ago is on my resume. The 11 years enlisted service has no relevance to my current profession, but its on it. And it's there because its benificial to list it. She doesn't put her porn career on her resume because it's obvious (to her and any rational person)that it would be detrimental in getting a job as a public school teacher.
Agree.
I turned down a job in 2004 editing porn for that reason alone. If I would have taken that job, it would affect future employers on hiring me-- even if I was qualified to do the job.
People will judge you because of this-- no matter what. I have no problem with this, but it doesn't mean my employer won't. It's a silly game, but you have to play it.
Other thoughts...
If she put her porn career on her resume as prior employment and was up front with her past instead of attempting to conceal it, does anyone think she could get hired anywhere in the public elementary education system?
I think it depends on the community. Most people will say no, because it's easy to draw blame to her for her past. Then, if the kids fail, the parents can point fingers to her amazing DP skills.
Do you think past behavior should affect employment?
No, but I'm not the one employing her. If I was, she'd have a job if qualified. You may respond with jokes.
Where do you draw the line?
Everyone draws different lines in the sand.
Crimanl behavior?
Depends on the crime. Last time I checked, being in a porn is not a crime. If she was carrying a felony, she'd have a hard time finding work waiting tables (even if she paid her debt to society).
Only for some jobs?
If her qualifications fit, then hire her.
Does gender play a role in this?
In what? If it was a man, I think it would be treated the same.
How about sexual preference?
Splitting hairs.
Would you feel the same about a former male *** pornstar teaching/coaching your son?
Most male porn stars that do *** porn are straight. I have no problem with any of the above mentioned mentoring my "son." I guess daughters are out of the question. The question back would be, "What is the fear associated with a former porn star educating these kids?" Is it just the distraction it causes? If that's the case, then it's an easy target for parents to point at when their children fail.
This is going to get interesting.
Not really.
I can think of other situations where behavior isn't criminal, but would prevent you from getting a position/accepted to a job and or fired from your job. Hell could even lose your professional license in some cases.
How about inappropriate sexual relationships, say with a client if your a Psychologist or Physician? It may be deemed unethical but no law is broken if its 2 consenting adults.
How about membership in organizations... say NAMBLA or The Aryan Brotherhood?
How about visible tattoo's or body modification?
Like huge, awesome bewbs? Move that application to the top of the pile.
What's happening is an apples/oranges argument.
I can include one you omitted-- supervisors dating subordinates. We can keep playing this game all day until the puzzle pieces fit just right.
I'm not really arguing about it, was just interested in opinions and wether the type of behavior involved would change the opinion.
