True but look at it this way. Rockford is actually considered by the NHL to in the home area (that is my understanding). If that is the case then why do you in Chicago and in the suburbs get to watch WGN Chicago on cable when we can not? Ultimately this is a cable carrier question but I believe it is something the Blackhawks could address when setting their contracts for tv viewership. It has not been addressed for three years and even after communicating this with the Blackhawks it has yet to be resolved.
So, not only do the WGN broadcasts and their broadcasters suck tremendously, they also
suck because of not addressing this issue. Honestly, get ready for this, I blame part of this
on McD and his love affair with WGN.[/quote]
I thought this issue has been hashed out.
It probably has to do with that somewhere in the NHL television contracts that WGN cannot broadcast games nationally (NBC/Versus). I'm not sure if that's the case, but if McD and company could allow games outside the general area, they'd do so. Do they televise Braves baseball on TBS anymore? If not, when did it stop?
The next best thing is to pony the near $200 and buy the NHL ticket. Otherwise, there are feeds that give you the games for free like atdhe.net.
Or you could come here every three months and post the same complaint.
Edit:
I know that many teams have local affiliates that broadcast a handful of games as well (outside of Comcast/FOX Sports Net). I know St Louis and Minnesota do this at times. Not sure if this is something within the TV contract-- meaning that if WGN didn't pick up these games, WCIU would-- or no one would.
I guess I would care more if I lived outside the general area (not saying this to be a dick-- I would care more).
