Everyone should become minimally independent from IT folk anyways. Most of them have a god complex when you are in your darkest computer hours. :shrug:, **** em. Computers have gotten so easy, they have gotten obsolete. Plus, if they're assholes about it, nobody will miss them.

Good luck and look at this, as a good thing, because you can start clean. Once the installation is done, you'll feel so much better, even with stuff missing.

If you or anyone would be so kind as to advise, I've spent several hours reading up on microsoft windows 7. This computer is only working in safe mode currently b/c I cannot create a system restore point. In fact, the option icon is literally missing from the system control panel...there should be 4 options and there are only 3. And if course it's the system protection option missing.

Windows is actually prompting me to do a clean re-install in my 2009 service 1 pack...and of course I don't have the original installation disk.

So is there anyway to avoid paying a C-note for software I already payed for less than 2 years ago. This computer is only 15 months old.

None that I know of, legally. Once you lose that disc, you have to buy another.

My recently fired/quit IT guy has the disk...and I'm not using him ever again so guess I'll find an alternative.
