Shakes, I don't think NY can do Arenas, Bosh and JJ. Too much salary, even without Curry the Knicks are at 7.7 mill and can't do 3 max deals.

Curry + Chandler get them to within 25% of Arenas' contract.

They still have about 5 mill on the books and Arenas will make about a mill more than bosh's or jj's first year salary.

My point is you get Bosh, you get JJ then you salary match Arenas (which Curry + Chandler doesn't quite do, but you can S&T some scrub to make up the difference). That way you don't need the cap room to absorb Arenas' contract.

I'm fairly confident the match is only for teams over the cap.

The rule is you're allowed to go over the cap (whether you were there to start with or not) so long as you match salaries.

See Larry Coon's FAQ #69 & #70.

I still think your wrong.

69. What are the rules regarding trades?

Teams under the salary cap may make trades as they please, as long as they don't end up more than $100,000 above the salary cap following a trade. But if a team is over the cap, or they are under the cap and a trade would take them more than $100,000 over the cap, then an exception is required. An exception is the mechanism that allows a team to make trades or sign free agents and be over the salary cap. Since teams are usually over the salary cap, trades are usually accomplished using exceptions.

And one of the exceptions is that it's allowed if you salary match:

The Traded Player exception is the primary means used by teams over the cap for completing trades. It allows teams to make trades that leave them over the cap, but it places several restrictions on those trades. Trades using the Traded Player exception are classified into two categories: simultaneous and non-simultaneous. As its name suggests, a simultaneous trade takes place all at once. Teams can acquire up to 125% plus $100,000 of the salaries they are trading in a simultaneous trade. For example, a team trading a $5 million player in a simultaneous trade can receive one or more players whose salary is no more than 125% of $5 million, plus $100,000, or $6.35 million in return.

I guess your right, I was just under the impression under the cap teams weren't allowed exceptions.

That's just the MLE and LLE for signings. The normal exceptions still apply for trades.

Anyway if there's one thing I feel will happen, it's that the Knicks will find a way to turn Eddy Curry into a bloated deal. If not for Arenas then for Monta Ellis maybe.

I think LeBron will stay in Cleveland.

I hope he comes here but I've been saying for 2 years he's stay in Cleveland. I would still be surprised if he leaves.

He will never win a ring in Cleveland. I just can't see it and I think he knows it. They had cap space, picks and expirings and they just couldn't net him a real #2. If that happens, I think Miami, Orlando and us will be better.

Here are my predictions:

Miami:
Bosh sign and trade to the Heat.
Wade resigns

James will resign in Cleveland with an opt-out in 3 years.
Johnson and Amare to NY.
Bulls sign David Lee and Korver.
Mavericks: Resign Dirk.
Celtics: Ray Allen and Paul Pierce resign

I have absolutely no idea on Boozer, but I'll say the Nets in a crap shoot.

Who won this? I shot pretty good.

Alright here goes...

Miami: Wade and Amare
NY: JJ and Boozer
Nets: David Lee
Dirk resigns
Allen and Pierce resign

Also, Kirk Hinrich will suck the duration of the rest of his contract, leading us all to laugh at the Wizards for giving us the chance to have a dynasty. ;)
Wow look how wrong I was. So kill me for not knowing that the big 3 were planning on messing with everyone. :p

Got the last 3 right though. B)

Well I got the Mavs/Celtics/Heat re-signings right, but my lets assume these guys don't actually want to play together to come up with something different approach really backfired big time!

Let's make crap up like everyone else on the net ...

Chicago: LeBron & Lee
Miami: Wade, Boozer & Jefferson
NY: Bosh, JJ (S&T 6 year max) & Arenas (dumped for Curry)
Nets: Amare & ***
Mavs: Dirk
Celtics: Allen & Pierce
Clippers: Forced to go the Washington route and use the cap space as a dumping ground

Just not feeling the idea that the big names can give up their egos to play together.
