I don't think comp picks is based purely on how many players you lose vs how many you sign.

I think the contract values play a larger part than we're considering on this board.

Losing 5 guys like Darrell Taylor and Larry Borom who get $1M-$2.5M don't even negate signing Dalman alone.
It is a one to one elimination. Since we got two high end guys in Dayo and Dalman, our highest values will be cancelled. I’d guess Tev and Keenan would be the guys cancelled out, but I guess we’ll see where the contracts fall. Depending on how many guys are signed overall, Taylor could miss the 32 pick cutoff too. But, there’s no need to add multiple CFAs lost to offset one gained even if there’s a big cost difference.

Once each team’s list of CFAs lost and gained are determined and valued, one-to-one cancellations are applied. Cancellations work as follows, as stated in App. V, §3(a):
  1. A CFA gained by a team cancels out the highest-valued available CFA lost that has the same round valuation of the CFA gained.
  2. If there is no available CFA lost in the same round as the CFA gained, the CFA gained will instead cancel out the highest-available CFA lost with a lower round value.
  3. A CFA gained will only cancel out a CFA lost with a higher draft order if there are no other CFAs lost available to cancel out.
Any team that has more CFAs lost than CFAs gained will then be eligible for compensatory picks for the CFAs lost that were not cancelled out by CFAs gained.

Yeah, that valuation is the point we're neglecting. It's not a straight one for one if I'm interpreting those line items currently.

Who gives a shit about comps picks. Just bring good players. The main way teams win is with Franchise QBs. Comp picks didn't help NE. Brady was the guy after 2005. NE was a stacked team from 2001-2005. Mahomes is the driving factor why KC is a championship contender. Dorsey got him and picked Mayfield. Im impressed with Dorsey's eyes to find QB.

Taylor got $5 million on a 1 year deal. There is currently 29 comp picks set to be awarded. I believe they give a max of 32 for free agent transactions. So bears still have a 3 spot buffer plus there is like 4 or 5 contracts that are less than Taylor's or Shelton. So if teven and Keenan get signed bears currently have a decent chance at getting a couple low round comp picks

Here's the bible on comp picks.

TLDR is it is 1 to 1, but they will match tier for tier when possible, so Dalman and OBDingbo will negate Jenkins and Allens signing (if he even signs in time). Bears are probably looking at a 7th round comp in '26, unless Allen signs in the next few weeks then they can get a 6th and a 7th.

It's probably a lower number or prove it contract. When the numbers are good agents don't wait to release them.

Im not sure he's even starting unless they plan on moving him back to tackle?

How so?

He should have kept Fields in 2024 to get that ‘26 4th rounder?
No as someone pointed out; Pittsburgh sent a 6th and then got a 4th out of it. Granted this was indirect but still sucks they were able to get more out of him than Poles did.
Nick McCloud from San Fran. Never heard of him.

Super Bowl!
Im a ND fan and I rarely ever heard his name--and they made the playoffs that year too. I think he was a grad transfer

McCloud was terrible last year with a perfect passer rating against of 158.3 as he gave up 17 catches on 19 targets for 253 yards and 3 TDs. He was better in 202 with a passer rating against of 83.9 with 15 catches on 22 targets for 152 yards, 1 TD, 1 Int and 2 FFs.
