Nah, from what I read is that for some reason the Bengals are trying to add provisions in the contract that make it not fully guaranteed, which is unprecedented for 1st round picks since the new CBA rules. It's not about "offset languages" either, which has been the usual rookie 1st round pick contract hang-up the last several years.
So basically the Bengals are back to being the Bungles

Sounds like they want to try to hedge against Stewart being really bad as his college numbers suggest he could be.

why draft him then?

The bengals are so fucking stupid

They are arguing and keeping their top 20 pick out of practice over 4.5m/yr

The only other franchise that comes to mind that just really seems to screw up contracts and does not seem to have learned how to effectively manage them are the Cowboys.

Isn't the rookie contract "pre-negotiated" in the CBA Article 7?

Wouldn't the players union come down on the franchise if they were trying to change language on something?

Basically, I think it's the values that are set. But there are other contract issues not addressed, like offset language.

It’s amazing that they have been to 3 SB’s and this franchise has only been to 2.

Yea, pretty dumb to not have the guy who needs development available for camp… teams routinely eat dead cap costs in the low millions. If the worst case is you eat 4.5 million extra, that’s just the cost of doing business is the NFL.

Trade next years 2 for him. Didn't want him in 1 but worthwhile project at a later 2. Yah, I know, never happen.

The Bengals want to change the language related to voiding future guarantees. Most contracts for example may void future guarantees if you are suspended for violating the NFL conduct policy. Sounds like the Bengals want language that would void future guarantees that they have never asked for in previous contracts.

Stewart's point is the last 3 Bengals picks didnt have this new language and he was drafted higher than those guys so it isnt fair for the Bengals to ask him to accept worse terms than guys drafted lower than him.

Some reports are suggesting Bears trade for Stewart.................After watching him in college, that would be a big NO from me. To me he looks like John Thierry, great athlete with no instincts.

Time to update the Steelers spend on defense.
It appears that PIT has sent Minkah Fitzpatrick to MIA in exchange for Ramsey.

Interesting move considering MIA drafted Minkah. Don't think I've seen that before. Also I think Ramsey is on the downside of his career.

Apparently it also includes Jonnu Smith... I'm kind of surprised they found a way to get all these names in there. Feels different to see trades primarily built around players. I guess I'll see if any major picks end up being in the deal.

EDIT:
Here it is
