Hey Guys, just wanted to shoot a reminder to all of you. Please don't use homophobic slurs on the open forum.

This becomes an issue with how credible the site looks if we have "***" all over the forums. Personally I have no issue with it but, I understand how it looks to advertisers, new members, etc.

Just be considerate of this "for the site". If you want to call somebody a complete moron hippy jerk. Go for it. Just please don't use ***.

I know this site is about being free and open and I've always enjoyed the aspect of it, but if it continues to be such a problem, perhaps it would be best to censor such words (I know theres a way around censors, but there's infractions for someone doing it such). Just an idea, I'm not advocating it yet.

That's not a bad idea. Maybe it's possible to set up a macro to turn certain words into "magical unicorn" or something ridiculous but not as inflammatory.

People need to get more creative and original with their knocks and putdowns.

We don't want to degenerate ourselves to the point where we all start calling each other things like asshole, jerk ass, asshat, and garbage ass.

While a great idea, I would hope people could just be courteous enough to understand where we're coming from and help us out. ;)

Well I hope so too, but if it continues at some point you have to make that tough decision. I always hated PSD and the fact any word that was "naughty" was censored. I wouldnt advocate every single word, but some of the upmost offensive words to be censored if a problem consists. As of right now, hopefully this warning will do.

not fair. You shouldn't be able to win "Best Post of the Thread" in your own Thread.

I don't think you have to regulate anything too much. 99% of the time people know the fine line between being goofy or funny and being a douchebag.

but knowing where the line is is irrelevant with the anonymity of the internet...the line's crossed for shits and giggles.

You guys gotta remember that the idiocracy of the internet is full of people like this:

Just ignore it if it's mild and report it if it's inflammatory. No use feeding the trolls.

Yeah, but sometimes people just don't care.

I wouldn't let somebody post here whom "didn't care" or at least be empathetic to the fact we have to appease advertisers for the betterment of the site.

Some people give FirstTimer shit but, he has obliged to all requests I've made to him without giving me shit. How he's handled some stuff has been very ideal. If you're respectful to people and they work with you, they are worth keeping around.

If you try to work with them, they don't oblige and generally acts like a dick back....they will wind up banned most likely. For instance....Lex, that one guy with 50+ names, etc.

Troll wars can be fun sometimes in the proper forum. For example...hey Fisch, didn't know you were ***:

Of course, sometimes Fisch will totally redeem himself:

Anyway, back to the topic at hand:

It's going to be difficult to set a threshold for which if someone crosses that threshold, you discipline them. If you want this to be a fun environment you have to allow for some friendly jawing and teasing. There should be a report function for posts if you think something is offensive. I guess it has to be taken on a case-by-case basis, but common sense often applies. Unfortunately, as has been stated earlier, common sense often doesn't apply on the interwebs.

My best suggestion is to set up a sticky thread in each forum that says "no racism, homophobia or inflammatory personal attacks" or something to that effect. That still allows for some douchebaggery without having people go overboard.
