maybe a guy like Laddy will show Fro what the back of the net looks like.

Frolik gone as well...

he stopped being a 20 goal scorer but molded himself as a pretty damn good pk specialist...ya know the PK that us fans felt confident in all year round. his value was in a different aspect of the game.

Honestly, w/out Frolik, our PK likely won't be as good. It can still be above average, but what he was often able to do on the PK won't be replicated by a low-level FA, imo.

They're won't be some low level fa taking over.. It'll probably have to be the younger guys stepping up.

Id expect at this point to see Saad end up improving and could BS paired with Kruger on the unit.

What is more shocking to me is how quickly these pink slips were issued. I know it has a lot to do with the short season and the end of the playoffs v. the draft, but we could hardly savor the teams amazing victory and boom, they're tossing guys out.

What makes you so sure that the Hawks can't find another PK guy? The fact that Frolik suddenly developed into a monster on the PK after being on the team for a few years hints at the possibility that coaching had a lot to do with it. They couldn't do it again?

For those worried about the PK depth next season, keep in mind that Ben Smith and Jeremy Morin each saw extensive PK time down in Rockford last season, and it's almost a certainty now that both will be up with the big club in 2013-14.

Plus, you've still got Toews, Hossa and Sharp, three real good two-way forwards. Saad should get some looks at PK time as well, Kruger is still going to be re-signed as well.

Personally, I'm not worried about that aspect of the team just yet.

This is exactly the case. Smith will likely pull a lot of PK time. He might also see some time on the PP since he is not afraid to go into the dirty area in front of the net.

The PK is the least of my worries for next season. Until the Hawks can show some consistency on the PP, that will be the main point of concern.

I'd have concerns... but the fact of the matter is - they won. I am older than most on here and prior to 2010 I couldn't even say that I had ever seen them win a Finals game let alone win.

So really, if it works.... does it really matter?

Saw Morin at Texas Stars last season. Dude was the second best player on the ice (Alex Chiasson). I'm ready to see him play next season. Guy is fast and talented.

Here's to hoping that game of his translates into the NHL.

It's got a long way to go to be above average.

I will add it shows what a great position the Hawks are in when Frolik is the biggest complaint we have in the offseason...especially when you consider what the Hawks lost in the post 2010 Stanley Cup season.

I have to trust that Bowman will do what's necessary to keep Kane and Toews, because they're going to want big money right around the corner.

the PK should still be pretty solid...the PP on the other hand, is a whole other topic.

Experts seem to think that is an issue of philosophy, not personnel. The Hawks have been better before.
