Tyrus actually fouled Hughes on the last shot-block.
But, I'll take it! :)

Hope Rose is ok, after landing on his already sore wrist!

I watched the game late last night. Hinrich was very good on offense and defense. He was just on fire with his jumper.

Tyrus made some awesome plays, dunks and that big block at the end. Still didn't like the way they let the Knicks come back but a win is a win.

n a new round of damage control, the Vatican insisted Wednesday that a 1997 letter warning Irish bishops against reporting priests suspected of sex abuse to police had been "deeply misunderstood."

The Associated Press on Tuesday reported the contents of the letter, in which the Vatican's top diplomat in Ireland told bishops that their policy of mandatory reporting such cases to police "gives rise to serious reservations of both a moral and canonical nature."

The newly revealed letter, obtained originally by Irish broadcaster RTE from an Irish bishop, has undermined persistent Vatican claims, particularly when seeking to defend itself in U.S. lawsuits, that Rome never told bishops not to cooperate with police.

The church is really arguing semantics there. No they didn't say "cover up them rapes boys!", but that sure as hell implies, "hey don't let this get out in the open".

The hypocrisy that exists in the Catholic Church is the biggest problem I have with them and one of the reasons I rarely attend mass. I could spill my guts and go on my long rant about what I think, but I won't. I know there are some people on here that are devout Catholics and I don't want to offend them or start another firestorm.

Right. And they wonder why no one is attending services.

I don't think it has to do with church indiscretions Jako. I think our generation just has a totally different bullshit meter. The more we learn about science the less we need religion to explain the universe to us. I am technically a Catholic (by choice). But then I came to my senses this past year that it is all bullshit and nothing more than HUMANS trying to make sense of why we are here and have consciousness. I also refuse to listen to a bunch of stories from people that roamed the earth 2000 years ago to tell me how to live a good moral life in the present day.

In my opinion, the guy that wrote the letter very well may have meant that if this stuff gets out it could be a shit storm in the press. That is a take it at face value statement. He wasn't saying, "DON'T tell people about this, he was just saying, it will get ugly if we do." Those individual priests and bishops chose to cover things up. That is on them. The guidance did not implicity say, DON'T, though. It may be plausible deniability, but he still didn't give them an order.

I think the article glossed over the real problem.

The catholic church--and many other well-established religions in some areas, conduct themselves as if they are above local laws and answer only to their internal laws (note: local means laws codified by city/county/state/country or any other "legal" jurisdiction worldwide). The sad thing is we let them get away with it.
