You can't say that we won't beyond 40 games without Ben Gordon because how much roster changes well have. What if Rose improves alot? What if we get guy to compensate for Gordon 3 point percentage? What if John Salmons returns to his form before his injury? What if Joakim Noah becomes a really good interior defender? Theres so many question marks with this team that you have no idea how many games they win
Exactly, you are relying on several different things to get us to 40 wins. How many playoff teams do you know of that don't have a 20ppg scorer and play average defense at best?

I don't see why Salmons can't score 20 points a game for us next season if we don't have Gordon. I bet that he'll shoot just a good percentage as well. If given the opportunity to be our leading scoring threat, I bet he could produce. Don't forget we'll also have Deng returning, and he is good for about 15-18 points a game, so with that we've already made up for Gordon's 20 points, and Salmons points.

I don't see either as likely as you do. Salmons already had a career year in scoring and played 37.7mpg. I don't think you can ask him to improve his output another 10%, he just isn't a pure scorer like BG. Loul has had serious injury concerns and has missed significant time in 3 of his 5 seasons. There is no guarantee he will have a full healthy year and with Salmons as your starting SG, you have no other SF beisdes Linton Johnson. You are also relying on all of these factors just so you can be as good as last year, why can't we strive to improve and not struggle to keep pace?

With this team as constructed we were 50 win team though.

There's 3 teams that can offer BG money and 2 of those teams aren't very good in OKC and Memphis. The only team that poses a threat is Detroit but we have a starting job for BG and Detroit doesn't. Also how much is Detroit willing to pay.

I'm not 100% certain that the Bulls - Gordon are better than the Thunder + Gordon. Although he isn't as good as Derrick Rose, Durant is pretty freaking good. Westbrook is a good young point guard. I like their team if you add a scorer like Gordon. I don't like the Bulls chances next year minus Ben.

Ben's rarely missed games, but I remember 3 of them from the 07-08 season. The Bulls didn't hit 80 points in any of them while he was gone. In one of those games, we scored 67 against a terrible Minn. team. I am going to be shocked if we win more than 40 games next year if we don't add anyone to this team who can score after Gordon leaves.

You kinda lost me here because I don't see how your reply goes with what I'm saying..... I'm saying that out of all the teams that can sign him we are the better fit.... I'm talking about keeping Gordon

Really, I remember being a 7 seed with 41 wins and not a 4 seed with 50 wins. Once again, you are making assumptions, how many 50 win teams have we had post MJ? How many years have we gotten off to a bad start and then gone on a roll at the end to win 40 some games?
