We've discussed this in detail. Since this isn't the football forum, you could try reading before posting. Thanks.

This rumor doesn't have legs. Basically, everyone circles back to the same rumor. If Castro for Gardner was on the table and going to happen, it would have happened as there is no reason for either team to wait on doing the deal. Seeing as the deal came from NY, my assumption is NY called the Cubs on a Garder for Castro deal and the Cubs said no.

It could be that they are checking on medicals to be sure.

Not really how trades work, the likely scenario is it was mentioned, someone said no, and then it leaks out via sources.

That's exactly how trades work.

Thankfully. A 32 yr old guy that'll hit about .250, steal a few bases and play an OK centerfield.....does anyone really, REALLY think that's all Castro will bring in a trade?

agree, yet i still would trade Castro but for pitching

No. I can just see this trade being a disaster for the Cubs. Epstein would overpay because it's the Yankees and Castro would end playing well for them at 2nd, while Gardner completely busts out like he has lately.

I don't. And that trade would have disappointed me.

Last line of the article...

John Heyman said there are no talks about Castro for Gardner going on.

To entertain the idea.....well. Are the Yankees eating salary or throwing something in? Gardner's 2nd half of the last 2 years have left a bad taste in my mouth. He's started hot and then regressed to being non-existent.

Not that Fowler was a world beater beforehand.....but I feel the cubs lose on this trade solely to fill a need in CF by giving away a surplus position "because it fits for both teams."

Really? Give me a trade where the rumor was "team X and Y were discussing these players" and then it happened.

I'm speaking specifically of checking medicals.

I know at one time you were liking Markakis as a fit for the Cubs a year ago I believe. Just wondering if it still exists?

I would entertain the idea of getting him in a package deal even if it meant losing Soler and maybe Hendricks and a prospect, if the Cubs could get a pitcher like Teheran or Miller, and Markakis. Picking up his salary would help the Braves, and probably lessen the blow of the prospect haul for a starter.

At least the Cubs would get a young pitcher, a lead-off guy and a former two-time GG'er in RF.

Just want to know your thoughts on it.

Lol Schwarber and 3 other specs for Miller or Teheran. HAHAHAHAHA Im glad Braves fans are as bad as Cubs fans with their pipe dreams.

There also seems to be a consensus to dump Miller over Teheran. I don't get this. The eye test and the numbers test say Miller all day. They are both about the same age.
