This rumor doesn't have legs. Basically, everyone circles back to the same rumor. If Castro for Gardner was on the table and going to happen, it would have happened as there is no reason for either team to wait on doing the deal. Seeing as the deal came from NY, my assumption is NY called the Cubs on a Garder for Castro deal and the Cubs said no.
It could be that they are checking on medicals to be sure.

Guy who started the rumor is now backpedaling.....nothign to see here.
Not really how trades work, the likely scenario is it was mentioned, someone said no, and then it leaks out via sources.
Thanks. I'm a Bears forum god but a noob hereWe've discussed this in detail. Since this isn't the football forum, you could try reading before posting. Thanks.
That's exactly how trades work.
Thankfully. A 32 yr old guy that'll hit about .250, steal a few bases and play an OK centerfield.....does anyone really, REALLY think that's all Castro will bring in a trade?

I say do it!
Really? Give me a trade where the rumor was "team X and Y were discussing these players" and then it happened.
Last line of the article...
John Heyman said there are no talks about Castro for Gardner going on.
To entertain the idea.....well. Are the Yankees eating salary or throwing something in? Gardner's 2nd half of the last 2 years have left a bad taste in my mouth. He's started hot and then regressed to being non-existent.
Not that Fowler was a world beater beforehand.....but I feel the cubs lose on this trade solely to fill a need in CF by giving away a surplus position "because it fits for both teams."
