Baby Bulls part 2
They weren't laughably bad in 2006! Or the year prior...45-37 if I remember right. Not world beaters by any means but they were definitely considered on the up and up.Lol no...
We're already light years ahead of the baby bulls with guys like Butler, Portis, Doug, and Niko. Those are 4 young and competent players with obviously Jimmy being a star. We're still a playoff team without Gasol. We wouldn't be laughably bad like the baby bulls.
I would absolutely bring him back. Are you all kidding me? He's going to remain a serviceable big man in the NBA for at least another three seasons. He would still be the best player right now on a number of NBA franchises today. And with the salary cap going up, you might be able to make it even easier to squeeze him in at a reasonably expensive yearly deal. He's one year removed from being an All-star starter. Without him, instead of 11-5, the Bulls could very easily be 6-10. And for all the talk about how bad his defense is, he is averaging 2 blocks per game and gets the largest chunk of all the big man minutes.
I hate it when people over value a blocked shot. Yes, you avoid a basket for a second but after at least 70% of those blocks the offense still has the ball and another chance to score. With a steal you gain possession 100% of the time.
And what value does Gasol give you when he avoids 4 points with his two blocks but gives up like 12 per game because he simply get´s destroyed in th pick and roll?
bringing him back postpones a rebuid/reshuffle and i think thats a mistake. yes we're 11-5 in the regular season but let me know when gasol is winning us playoff series.
He isn't necessarily saying anything about the Bulls and he knows his own temperamental temperament enough to know he doesn't have to choose right now. He asked for a player option. He played well enough for a raise. Of course he will opt out but he has injury insurance for 7.5 million. Good for him, he has earned it and the Bulls will be paying him more per year with a couple years tacked on or someone else will. If I sign him I'm asking that he retire from international basketball or he can walk, that is my personal clause. Spain might have got his best miles this summer.
