So Boozer's out with an injury, and the obvious response to what's going to happen is that Taj Gibson will slide into Boozer's role. However, that's not really what's important, because Taj Gibson was likely to play nearly 30...

I sort of hope that Noah and Gibson can each handle 32 minutes, and that Luol Deng can handle some time to play the 4. This seems like a golden opportunity to roll with a small line-up, and play at a fast pace:

Rose(38)-Watson(10)
Brewer(32)-Watson (16)
Deng(16)-Korver(28)-Bogans(4)
Gibson(32)-Deng(16)
Noah(32)-Asik(8)-Thomas(8)

I dont know why they just dont put Kurt Thomas at PF for some minutes and give Asik more minutes then he should ever have gotten this year. Asik will have to get comfortable fast.

cause thomas is too slow to be a pf. plus he's 38. you dont want him doing anything on the floor. I'd rather see JJ than deng at the pf. i'm terrified of the man of glass getting injured.

Have you guys ever seen Asik run? Mobility's not a problem with him. Im not saying its a great idea but if Thomas is too immobile to guard away from the basket, thats definitely not a problem with Asik.

Its just that hopefully Asik can play and doesnt take a lot of time to adjust to the NBA.

I think the best answer for right now is small ball and trying to play JJ at the 4. Thomas and Asik probably shouldn't play more than 10-15 minutes. This injury kinda sucks, but with the amount of guards that we have, small ball makes the most sense.

I'm a firm-believer in a couple of things:

1) James Johnson should NOT be playing pretty much at all during Boozer's time out. He's simply not very good, and unless Thibodeau really believes he has improved, he has no business being out there. That is... unless they want to hurt the team.. then, by all means, put him in there.

2) Omer Asik and Kurt Thomas should NOT be combining for more than 20 minutes. I don't care if Boozer is out or not... other guys (like Brewer, Watson, and Korver) will need to make up those minutes.

Pretty much agree..Just not an adovcate of smaller guys playing positions too big for them.

Luol Deng can definitely get by playing the PF, in most cases in the NBA. I really do believe it should be split between he and Gibson.

johnson got 2 blocks per game as a sf. he certainly has the athleticism to play the 4, as well ass the defensive instincts. he's 6'8 230. It's not terrible for a pf.

On the other hand i dont support the idea of kurt thomas playing pf, since he's far too slow to play the position. But i agree on deng playing pf is a terrible idea.

If we aren't going to play JJ at pf, we might consider upping asik's minutes and kurt's minutes at center, and playing noah at pf.

I was gonna say..Noah can easily play PF..He's not an ideal player for PF, but he certainly can play it. Deng I just feel doesnt have the body to play D at PF.

Haha thanks go out to it only being pre-season! Some confusion is to be expected. I just hope the team ingerenal does a good job of building consistent chemistry until Boozer joins in at the top of December.

JAMES JOHNSON!!!

Time for this guy to step up, from all the reports I have seen, he is suppose to be in great shape 25-30 lbs lighter, I am not giving up on the kid after just 1 damn season in which he didn't even play much or get much of a chance to show what he can do, if he can contribute something and even develop into a good SF that eventually replaces Deng if he doesn't get motivated then that would make our bench so much stronger, despite losing 25-30 lbs he still has the frame to play some PF, this is his GOLDEN Opportunity and it will start in the Preseason, I know I am rooting for the guy big time and would love to see him start contributing in some way, if he can develop and/or Deng can get motivated then a traded for Melo wouldn't even be neccessary
