With Forte's injury we're almost guaranteed we'll win no more than a couple more games, thus ensuring a top 5 pick (hopefully). Ideally we can trade down with someone even more desperate, for a couple of late 1st rounders. You hate to be glad for an injury, but Forte's MCL might just mean an additional 1st rounder for the Bears. Lemons into lemonaid.

We may have lost quite a few games WITH Forte . The real silver lining if he misses significant time, is it probably lowers his value even more this off-season. If Pace was mulling over signing him to a 1 or 2 year deal, this may give him an edge to do so while not spending much money. A 1 year, 3.5 million dollar deal/full gtd, might be enough to get it done if Forte misses a lot of time. I think Pace plans to move on though, TBH.

None, as of now. St.Louis has 2 2nd rounders, I believe!

6th rounder + 6th rounder = 12th rounder

12 / 1 = 12 1st rounders

Pace is a genius.

Because we have such a great history of hitting home runs on first rounders...

Why is this a positive? New England has been competitive for a decade and never drafts early. It's not the draft slot that makes a team successful, it's the player AND coaching.

The old "hopefully we can get into the top 5 just to trade down out of it!" topic, gotta love it.

totally this. I said this a couple weeks ago. I mean if this was honestly the metric at hand, the Packers and Patriots wouldn't be perennial contenders and the Cleveland Browns would be superstars.

outside of maybe like QB or DE that goes in the first like 10 picks, there's still tons of other talent out there. you probably can get better stuff in the 2nd or 3rd anyway, cause a lot of 1st round picks are just mainstream sports media darlings that inflates their status. OR they're just REALLY good, which isn't always the case.

you want coachable guys, not NCAA's greatest hits. there's too much of a disconnect between the college game and the pros considering defense barely exists in college. you all know statistically how a lot of those guys never translate to the NFL and are finished by time the rookie deal's done. that's why I don't understand the gushing for QB in the 1st.

I agree. And would add that it's how hard they will work to be better. They need good coaching but in the end they need to become professionals. That character and work ethic is too hard to judge from film or the little time scouts have with these prospects.

maybe we can just trade our 32 6th round picks for 16 4th rounders and trade those for 8 second rounders and then trade those for 4 first rounders.
