No one should take away from what Trubisky did, but the high mark for TDs will move.

More and more TDs are getting thrown and scoring is going up.

What Mirch did was extremely positive but not a future guarantee of anything.

Goff - 465 yards, 5 TD's, 0 Int's, 78.8% comp, 158.3 passer rating against a Minnesota Defense in a close game

Trubisky - 354 yards, 6 TD's, 0 ints, 73.1% comp, 154.6 passer rating against a TB defense in a blow out.

Trubisky had a great game, Goff had a better game

Why you fucking hating bro?

Please share.

As I stated, I had to delete that one to make room for some of the other pm's that random psychos and people who play characters (Ommy) send me on a daily basis.

Some of The Hawk pm's were priceless.

Given the group he's in with that stat I'm pretty happy. A lot less worry about him being Leaf or McNown. A lot more hope he's someone who can own the NFCN.

I was also thinking with the rules pushing scores higher that has to change, but so far it hasn't. 7 TDs is still the limit that's been there since the beginning of time. And I'm still amazed it doesn't seem to be dictated by bad defenses or more bad QBs would be on the list.

I keep beating the drum on this but Trubisky does other things that top QBs do...stuff that doesn't always get recognized......

But at the end of the day it needs to translate into sustained performance......

Meh. Goff had a great game against a better team IMO. I'm just glad Trubs showed some life.

That could take a career to decide. For now I'm happy to have hope that the floor probably isn't sweeping up at McDonalds.

If I hadn't deleted it to make room for all of his other pm's I'd show you what Ommy thinks about warden trying get this nickname going.

I imagine he thinks it's about as stupid as I do. I'll never understand this weird obsession people have for making up nicknames for our players. Funny ones made in jest like "Mole eye Mitch" are tolerable but it's cringey as fuck when people try to come up with serious ones like Mako which is literally the cringiest shit I've ever heard. Just no.

Goff did it against a better defense. Trubs looked like he was just going through practice. No pressure. Just standing back there and taking his time. Trubs gets to play against the same Vikings defense. We will see how he does

Nicknames happen, they don't just get applied because you think it needs to be applied. OP struggles with some serious self-esteem issues, and I venture a guess that he's either: a. never had a nickname, or b. had a nickname he really hated growing up, and thinks doing this will "fix" things.

I could see that, but I actually disagree, respectfully.

We've indeed reached a place with passing that there's no coming back from, but the plateau is coming. Because of injury issues, lengthening guys' careers, etc., I don't think the TD high marks will move much.

It's not a perfect analogy, but look at wins and innings pitched and pitch counts going down in baseball. I predict we'll see something similar in football, except instead of going down, they'll plateau.

Future teams will more often do one of more of the following:

-use multiple quarterbacks in one game (I actually think this'll happen in the next 10-20 years, as quarterbacks become more homogeneous)

-pull their starting quarterback earlier to avoid injury

-pull back on passing to avoid injury and wear and tear

I also think it will become more of a trend to see players retire earlier.

That's all conjecture on my part, but meh, that's why we're here.
