I don't believe Reinsdorf planted any story, futhermore, Skiles settled his contract dispute because Mike North jumped down his throat while talking to him on the air...he pretty much told Skiles to wake up and sign the damn deal and get it done, and that is what happened.

Well guess what? All of them are in it for the money. Or they wouldn't be in it. The fanatics like Mark Cuban are cool to a certain degree, but then he goes around insulting people's mothers because he is passionate, or Larry Miller before he passed, inserting himself into team huddles and so on. It makes no difference at all. Reinsdorf is now trying to buy the Phoenix Coyotes. I don't know how much of a hockey fan he is, but he loves sports business. To obligate him to spend his excess money on the Bulls or any other team is like someone telling you what to do with your excess money. I believe that if you are asking Reinsdorf to spend excess money just because he is wealthy...that is selfish on your part. Have you ever heard him ***** and complain about the bad contracts he has had to swallow for inferior product? No. It comes with the territory, so does fiscal responsibility. He spends money for the right reasons. He paid Jordan over $30mil a year for a couple of years to keep him here. He will spend the money when he deems it necessary.
I know all of them are in it for the money but even by that standard Reinsdorf is cheap. I'll admit things could be worse, he could be the Marlins owne but if that were the case I wouldn't support the team at all. By your logic it is selfish to ask him or any other owner to spend more than the bare minimum legal in that particular sport.

Secondly what bad contracts that resulted in inferior product he had to swallow? Ben Wallace, Deng, by many accounts those were largely decisions of his so what would he complain about making his own poor judgment. Also you can't have it both ways you can't say he spends money on the right things and use Jordan as proof and then say he doesn't complain about the bad contracts he has had to deal with.

I'm not denying he has spent money in the past but it has been extremely rare and didn't even take care of his best players then he only paid MJ a high salary 2 years and never paid Scottie and his 1st stint I'm not saying it's his fault they signed long term contracts for that later ended up being below market value but you simply can't allow all time greats like those to be unhappy with their contracts even if it is the players fault and if you do it makes you look cheap. The Bears couldn't even let Hester or Urlacher, who was already making good money, believe they were being underpaid because it would show they weren't even willing to spend money for their superstars. Bottom line I don't think it's too much to ask to your hometown team's owner isn't out to be the most profitable in his particular sport every year but instead was focused on winning championships.

I don't believe Reinsdorf planted any story, futhermore, Skiles settled his contract dispute because Mike North jumped down his throat while talking to him on the air...he pretty much told Skiles to wake up and sign the damn deal and get it done, and that is what happened.

If you think Mike North helped settle the Skiles contract dispute or for that matter think North is a rational person who deserves any attention, then we will likely never even see a middle ground here.

You cant have it both ways, he spends money on bad contracts, doesn't complain, yet you are upset because he won't spend more money without hesitation? I don't get it. He owes the fans nothing before he takes care of himself first. His job is to make money, period. That is why he bought the team. He is the best owner in Chicago, take it or leave it. Scottie Pippen got paid up front on his contract. He shouldn't have signed it, that is his problem. Reinsdorf doesn't have to coddle every millionaire athlete that bitches and moans about money. Who would he ***** to when he spends money on bad talent? He is a smart businessman and has taken a strong leadership position in both leagues. He deserves commendation for his accomplishments.

As far as Skiles contract, when he talked to North, the offer was on the table. North knew about it, I forget how, and he gave Skiles a hard time for not signing it. By the way, Skiles quits on the team, and gets paid the rest of the contract by Reinsdorf...ever hear Reinsdorf complain about that?

Someone in Russia might just wanted to make up a story that would draw attention.

Most likely some journalist had a deadline and needed something to write about so they just plain made crap up based on being something vaguely plausible. Think of how inaccurate articles where you have some inside knowledge are (eg someone you know, events you witnessed, an area of expertise), then realise that every single article is probably just as bad, you just have no way of knowing it.
