Seems dubious.

1. Would be stupid to not have more seats.

2. Bears really need to negotiate with Pritzker not the mayor as mayor was already on board.
I didn't read in the tweet where it said they are not adding more seats. Agree that it would be dumb to negotiate with Mayor Johnson at this point, due to the fact that the stadium is in Arlington Heights.

You cant read. It sayd the lakefront deal feel through because of Johnson which makes no sense as Bears and Johnson were largely agreed on a lakefront deal. The issue was the Governor was against public money being used.

Bears really need to negotiate with Pritzker not the mayor. Good use of present tense there. You can't write.

But I'll let it slide. In terms of the enormity of your 'fail' in this thread, this moment will be lost in time....like tears in rain.

Vortex initiated
I give him credit....I would be too embarrassed to re-enter this thread if I had been proven wrong about everything, yet here he is, trying to act superior once again.

The Bears better get this new stadium built before Bruce Springsteen dies....otherwise, I don't know if they'll be able to find any musical acts.

Like I said you cant read. I quoted the tweet so anyone reading the tweet knows the reference to Johnson is with respect to the lakefront deal. Not sure why you think playing dumb is a win for you.

Thanks for that clarification. Seems dubious.

@Toast88 any updates on the KC stadium situation ?
Momentum definitely seems to be moving toward the Chiefs moving across the state line to the Legends outlet in Kansas City, KS.

This honestly always seemed like the likely move if KCMO didn't offer up downtown (or at least downtown-adjacent) property for the Chiefs to stay in KCMO.

Kansas has got the government money, the private money, and the richer neighborhoods & families compared to the Missouri side, for the most part (which is a shame, because the Missouri side is actual Kansas City, with all of the quintessential things you think about KC).

A bit of background on the place they're likely moving to. It's basically a money playground made by a lot of rich people collaborating with the local government. It's where the Kansas City NASCAR race is (Kansas Motor Speedway). It's where minor league baseball is. It's where the extremely popular local MLS team is (Sporting Kansas City). Its shops area grows by the month. It's clearly where people and businesses are migrating to.

I am so fucking pissed at Kansas City and Independence, just because I hate to see opportunities squandered and hardcore fans' thoughts tossed aside. They had friggin' 6 DECADES to build up ANY AREA ANYWHERE AROUND the Chiefs/Royals (Truman Sports Complex), and they literally did NOTHING. Just a giant parking lot, a whole bunch of nothing land nearby that's not being used for anything, a defunct/now-closed hotel, and a Denny's. Unreal, dude. They deserve to lose the Chiefs and Royals (although they'll keep the Royals probably).

Oh, but don't worry. The giant nothing area around the Chiefs current stadium has "great tailgating," just as long as you stay in Lot M. No tailgating allowed anywhere else. But yeah, totally, best tailgating in the NFL (jacking off motion).

There was no negotiation to be had between Springfield and Bears. Pritzker was all the way out on that front and AH was always the front runner. What will be interesting to watch in regards to action in Springfield will be the situation with the White Sox and the 78 development. With Justin Ishbia increasing his shares - there’s a decent chance they can go to Springfield with a much smaller ask and most likely a more enticing development opportunity for mixed use.

Feels like Virginia (RIP) passing away had something to do with this shift. It has been long speculated that the Bears do no have the money to fully build out in AH. Maybe Virginia stood in the way of selling an additional ownership stake that is now allowing current ownership to bring in outside investment (on the ownership side) to help pay for this.

I don't think it is a coincidence that her passing away has now brought about this change.

If you read the article this was agreed before her death.

"But a memorandum of understanding — approved in December by the NFL franchise and elected boards for the village, Palatine Township Elementary District 15, Northwest Suburban High School District 214 and Palatine-Schaumburg High School District 211 — resolved the tax battle. The Cook County Board of Review certified the assessed value of the 326-acre property on Feb. 13."

"And per the memorandum, the Bears agreed to restart evaluative studies within 60 days of that certification."

So it was agreed in Dec once the tax dispute was resolved that that the Bears would resume studying AH within 60 days. That is all that happened here.

Although I agree Virginia's death makes it more likley that some portion of her grandchildren sell their stakes but that doesnt really help the remaining owners as those proceeds would go to the owners cashing out. So anyone buying such a stake would need to hace enough money to buy in and then also have money to committ to building a stadium with the remaining owners.

So, two questions at this point...1) when do the Bears start negotiating with Pritzker? 2) When does the NFL step in and block the Bears from building a new stadium?
