Europeans don't have to pay to subsidize this like we do, through GM bailouts and tax funded "rebates" to buy them. If THEIR tax money went to pay for 18k per car, maybe they'd feel differently.

So it's not the vehicle itself per say but it's more a political ideology and protest that has sunk the Volt and everything else around it?

No, it's the vehicle itself that is failing. Studies have shown that the cost of electricity (likely from coal) and the cost of batteries makes them not so desirable or economical in this county.

Let the free market take care of winners and losers. Not tax payer money. There are more deserving causes out there not to mention a huge deficit.

The bailouts haven't even been paid back yet.

Electric cars or hybrids are really 20 years away from being worth it. The battery technology just isn't there for them. They are a great idea but the tech hasn't caught up to the idea.

Even if you look past all the cost and the bullshit... if they cost the same exact price off the line. They would still be inferior, they are just not practically and really not that more green. Wasn't it on here that I saw the video of the guy who charged the the thing over night for like 12 hours to get 40 miles of electric battery? It's not even about the price or anything else, I could justify all that in my head if these were super cars, but even if they gave one to me for free I wouldn't take it because they are completely flawed pieces of shit. Any $ amount they cost is lost money.
