So you wouldn't care that it would take almost all of our free agent money to sign him or are you saying you would backload the hell out of his contract?

We would have to backload.

But the Bears could also offer a big 2016 when Forte, Cutler and Allen come off.

2015: 8 million
2016: 20 million

Who is the other 5? Houston?

You add Suh and one of the OLB's at #7 to J.Ratliff,L.Houston,J.Allen,W.Young,E.Ferguson and that's one hell of a D-Line for years.

We have 28 mil in cap space how are we going to spend 28 mil on suh he will command probably 15-18 mi. There is 10 -13 left and who know who will be cut or restructured too. We have plenty of space the question is will he be resigned before the 10th

You backload the contract which could be good for us because we have big contracts coming off the books after next year starting with J.Allen and M.Forte.

The Bills are a bad comparison because they actually have really good LBers and DB's but you're right that a guy like Suh does make the backend much better.

i mean, their best DB is corey graham...

Here is my best approximation of the Suh contract based on JJ Watt [6 years 101 million/52 guaranteed]

6 years 105 million/56 million guaranteed

*18 million signing bonus [Watt: 10 million]
*10 million roster bonus [2016]
*15 million roster bonus [2017-2019] guaranteed for injury only
*13 million guaranteed salary in 2015-16

2015: 6 million guaranteed salary/3 million prorated signing bonus [9]
2016: 7 million guaranteed salary/3 million prorated signing bonus/10 million roster bonus [20]
2017: 8 base/3 million prorated signing bonus/5 million roster bonus [inj] [16]
2018: 11 base/3 million prorated signing bonus/5 million roster bonus [inj] [19]
2019: 13 base/3 million prorated signing bonus/5 million roster bonus [inj] [21] *Restructure or Release
2020: 17 base/3 million prorated signing bonus [20]

Cash Payments

2015: 24 million
2016: 17 million
2017: 13 million
2018: 16 million
2019: 18 million
2020: 17 million

Dead Money/Savings

2015: 41million [-32]
2016: 32 million [-12]
2017: 12 million [4]
2018: 9 million [10]
2019: 6 million [15]
2020: 3 million [17]

Realistically like most contracts it only locks the Bears in for 2 years with huge cash payments to Suh in the first couple of the years.

Suh shouldn't be a free agent.

The fact that the Lions botched this has left teams with a unique oppurtunity.

That being said I think he goes to Oakland. Tons of cap space and he is from Oregon so it is close to home.

They didn't really 'botch' anything. He is just demanding way to much money, he wants more money than JJ Watt. I find it interesting the Lions were smart enough not to cave and spend their entire wad on one player. They have other play makers on D too. What worries me is that they let Suh walk and sign Greg Hardy, and Fairley lives up to all his potential.

..The Lions should have franchised him. I think that's the point.

They back loaded the contract and restructured it to the point where they could not afford to franchise him.

That is botching it.

Suh doesn't strike me as the type of player who is going to take a discount to play for a contender (note: I'm not saying I would be, either, if I were in his position).

If he wants to chase money alone, he'll go to Oakland.

I could see him in Indianapolis, though, as a compromise. They have some money to burn, too ($40MM plus).

While this is true they still have to sign Luck to a contract soon and he won't come cheap.

24 mil this year? LIONS are going to let him walk for 26 mil I don't see any team willing to give him that Oakland or Jacksonville maybe but there loosing teams. We wouldn't be in it for that much unless we cut marshall.forte, cutler.

Whoever he goes to he is going to be paid tops at his position

My issue is now that we are moving to a 34 what would his position be exactly?

I would assume doggy style, riding his new team for all it's worth, maybe his agent using the second input.
