With Greinke opting out will the Dodgers overspend on Price?

I hope Theo overspends on both Price and Greinke. That would be GOAT rotation of all time.

Arrieta
Price
Greinke
Lester
Who da fuq cares

Ha, don't see that happening. Who do we want out of Price, Greinke, Zimmerman, Cueto? Gallardo will also be available and Kazmir would be a great #4 that could be affordable with one of the others.

He wants 5 years, 125 Mill according to Bleacher Report. I'd do that as a backup plan to Price.

Price is like 0-6 in his playoff career. He's like the Kersh of the AL.

See, we don't need a chokester on our team for this decade long playoff run we are embarking on.

I don't want to sign a 30+ SP1 to a 125M+ contract. They almost always are bad investments and it doesn't seem like they get teams over the hump. It seems to me that we need to acquire young stud pitchers. I'm not sure how we can do it though. Give up some ace prospects and a proven major league hitter, maybe?

The age thing with Grienke doesn't scare me as much as it should with others. Grienke might be one of the smartest pitchers in baseball and I think he's the exception to the rule about signing a pitcher for multiple years in his 30s. Plus, I think his way of thinking is massively valuable to say a Kyle Hendricks and I think taking out the Dodgers #2 to make him your #3 sets you up to just churn the #4/#5 guys in the rotation for the foreseeable future with Kyle Hendricks type (guys with cheap control who can pitch 180-185 innings and then get them over to your bullpen).

He's at the top of my list but think he's going to get closer to Scherzer money (6/7 years at close to 30) than he's getting sub Lester money.

How does Grienke's throwing style compare to Maddux's?

Two guys who simply don't overpower you with velocity but relies on changing speeds and he's an advanced scouting report guy (meaning he's prepared for how people prepare for him and then adjusts from there). The thing about guys like Price (and Sabathia before him) was they were overly reliant on speed. I also think Grienke would fit the personality of the team.

I've been hearing 5-years and $125M for Grienke. Imagine signing him and trading Castro/McKinney/prospect for Tyson Ross. That rotation would be bullish.

1) Grienke
2) Arrieta
3) Lester
4) Ross
5) Hendricks
