I have a Jamaican owned "Fruit Market" a few blocks down with a vastly underrated meat department that had me coming back for the $3.99 lb oxtail. A more recent trip did see a hike to $5.99 lb, but still pretty reasonable a couple times a year. It's one of those cravings I have when the television speaks of things like "Polar vortex".

They also have goat legs that I am one day going to be man enough to buy and do something awesome with.
oxtail was my first step out from mainstream cuts of meat (typically smoke ribs, brisket, pork shoulder, etc). The oxtails were phenomenal and would do them again, if I could find them for $5.99/lb.

Yeah mon, i forget they love that shit too. 5.99 is a good buy, but I still consider it expensive. I remember buying it from the asian markets for 2 something a pound way back when. When Flank and Skirt steak were still dirt cheap too. My other go to cheap shit use to be lamp shoulder chops. I swear those have gone up 3-4 times over the last decade. Maybe its been longer. IDK

I guess im just stuck back in the day and everything is just expensive now. International markets are where the deals are at though. Well certain kinds are.

Brisket is still cheap per/lb if you want to by 15-20 pound behemouths .

Goat is good.

Beef Shanks are not as fatty good as oxtail but are still cheap. A good braised beef shank is just that, good. Served over a root puree of some sort or a risotto and you are doing gourmet for dirt cheap.

Screw grocery shopping.
Ue the online ap for staples and then do the produce/meat shopping late at night when the stores are re-stocked.

Taking my mom shopping used to be a 3 hour ordeal- now I order online and take half an hour to bullshit when I drop them off. Win win.

I got a free Amazon Prime account for switching to Tmobile a couple of years back and I am pretty hooked on Amazon Fresh. Aldi is still my go to for really stocking up on staples, but Amazon Fresh is not terribly more expensive and I get free 2 hour delivery.

Meats & produce I just hit up the little independently owned grocery store two blocks over for prices & quality that blow away the big chain supermarkets here.

I spend an uncomfortable amount of money on food at the grocery store every month. But it's also at Whole Foods. I try not to think about it.

You're thinking of the plumbing breaking while she has a friend over and they both took off their clothes to take a shower to save water.

As a kid we had an old top loader rca vcr that my dad was given as a bonus years before. One of the first models in the US.
The only things my brother and I had to watch were programs we recorded off of TV.

One fateful day, we found my dads stash of porno flicks.

I gotta say, the "stories" and "acting" were comedy gold.

The cue card reading, stilted delivery, monotone voices, ridiculous story lines- that shit was classic.

I remember an outdoor themed one that involved bees getting in bras and snakes biting sausages as a lead in to the action.

I usually shop for every two meals. Spent about 20 bucks to make two Potato, cheese and leek pies, spring green and honey mustard salad along with trifle for dessert...that should get us about 2 meals with leftovers
