Guard minutes against Boston

Oh and Crawford is on that pace not due to Q, due to not having an effective back up goalie. Has nothing to do with the coach, who obviously wants his best chance to win, and that doesn't include the guy who should probably retire.

Honestly, is this what the topics are left too. There are some other things to talk about, but god damn do you know you are in a good place when people are going at it over your 12th forward.

Imagine what fans in Winnipeg are discussing after last night, there is definitely one theme, "how do we become a franchise like that?"

I'd love it if Bollig was anywhere close to Eager in terms of playing ability. There would be no complaints about him. Maybe even close in just skating ability. I wish that were true. Eager was a guy who on this team, with less than an average of 9 minutes of ice time per game, could get you 10 goals a season playing fourth line and nothing else. There aren't a whole lot of players that can get that type of production in that limited amount of time. To call bullshit on Eager being much better? On that? Really?

Once again, it's really not about Bollig. It's about the handling of the PK, which is sitting in the basement of the league. Something that a lot of people here last year were putting up as being much more important than having a good power play. Is that not a valid enough reason for discussion? I guess not for some people. ****, why bother even having a forum?

In what world is Eager not SUBSTANTIALLY better than Bollig? Seriously man. Now you're just being a contrarian.

Feel free to start a topic about something then. I'm really of the opinion, at this point, of why even have a Hawks' forum if this is how the discussion goes? People bring things up and the thread pretty much ends up at "TWO CUPS SHUT UP IDIOT".

You are right a good PK is more valuable than a PP, the past champions have proven that. The point being, our coach is looking for different options to start the year and we are sitting atop the league. That means there is room for experimentation.

Do they take our league pk standing 23 games in very seriously, yes they do. But at the same time, the coaching staff as well as management fully believes this team has all of the tools to turn our PK back to the top of the league in no time.

We can discuss the PK all you would like, but then lets discuss that, I see long winded posts regarding Bollig.

I will start, right now I see our guys some particularly on defense playing a overly confident lackadaisical game leading to some goals. They have every reason to be over confident, but I do feel that it is hurting us on many of the goals against we have. This should turn around once we reach the thick of the season, starting with this road trip which has always been a measuring stick for me.

Yeah, long winded posts by people trying to justify putting Bollig on the PK. There is no justification for that. You don't start trying to fix the PK by putting your absolute worst player in almost every aspect of the game on the PK. I mean, even John Scott could be the answer that fits the questions which Trev was using to excuse it. Doesn't make him the right player to use.

No, John Scott was a terrible skater and didn't understand his own zone and his assignments. He lacked on skill and hockey sense. Scott could take away space, but his lack of skating skills hurt the time factor.

I'll let you guys have this thread to whine about a team winning games and misusing players, though that statement contradicts it's self.

Thanks for letting us keep the thread. Could you also provide a list of discussion topics that are acceptable to talk about without it ending in "you aren't the coach/GM/player they won 2 Cups blah blah blah" . It'd be appreciated.

Substantially? Maybe at one point, but certainly not the Eager we had.

I'm not a huge Bollig fan BUT if that is the gripe, I'm ok with it. Means this team will do some special things, or has what it takes, all over again.

I would probably keep Morin here on talent, but Bolig is part of the winning team, on and off the ice. Sometimes a very valuable tangent.

And John Scott had a difficult time skating backwards, let alone with any of the abilities of Bollig other than landing a punch..

Some of the guys at Skate had more ability in skating than Scott does.. haha

Morin > Bollig, Versteeg, Smith.

But whatevs. I trust Bowman, but I really hope he can keep developing our prospects instead of trading them away for guys we don't need.

Not sure I agree he's better than Versteeg. The other two, skill wise, sure. He's also not a 4th liner and doesn't deserve 4th line minutes.

He also won't be here next year if the plan is he's in Rockford.

Bollig doesn't bother me as a 4th liner but I don't think he even belongs in a Morin, Smith, Steeg comparison. Morin may end up being better than Steeg and Smith but right now he seems very green.
