I know a bunch of people who are doing that and it's definitely something that I want to do. Unfortunately it's just not in the budget this year...

Parts are still expensive, in some cases almost as much as the assembled firearm when all is said and done.

Pretty cool though, I'd imagine there are thousands of those unregistered guns scattered about the U.S.

This country will never, ever be invaded by land.:smug2:

They're expensive if you are impatient. If you wait for sales and shop around you can build one for approximately $500.

And there are many thousands in circulation. I can think of 50 or so in my circle of friends and it's only getting more popular

You can also build an unserialized 1911 for a decent price. Those are so plentiful on the used market that it's not really about saving money, it's just about being able to do it

Better than guns and alcohol I suppose.:p

Yes, it very much is on both points. And the gun laws here are very lax. The only real restriction is on magazines which is fucking Special person.

An ex-roommate of mine moved out of state and she was a little wary of traveling with a gun in her car so she just gave it to me. I told my dad who lives in IL and is a gun nut. He started hounding me about an foi card and was losing his mind when I took a few weeks to check into it. After a 5 minute search I found that Colorado doesn't have any restrictions on guns, except full auto rifles.

There is no national serial registry... so it doesn't really matter... that and a weapon without a serial number is more trouble than one not registered... IMO

I think I'd like one of these, what a fun hobby. My father used to build them out of balsa wood, then crash them almost instantaneously. RC planes are not easy to fly, particularly if you have no background in aviation:

There was a field at like 100 something and Roberts Road where they used to fly those things..Many a crash.

That one is so big it could be a drone

We have 2 RC airfields within 20 minutes drive, both in forest preserves.

Everyone wants to start with a Spitfire(cuz they are cool looking), which they always crash within 5 seconds even with simulator training(they have this program for RC's). Then after a few crashes they quit b/c who wants to spend hours fixing an airplane only to crash it over and over?.

Gotta start with an inexpensive trainer like this:
