This is pretty much the way of EVERY "inside reporter" in all sports.

Doesn't make it any more valid however...

Plekanec, well, if Bowman can do that, he is pretty good. 2 years ago Plekanec scored over 70 points, last season -something like 58? (not sure- too early to look, am feeling a bit crook to surf much anyways...).

That would be a good pick up - throw in Beach... just get that done -and there is your 2nd line center. Moen, though? Well if he fits and it gets it done... why not?

But I don't buy Eklund -I only ever recall the guy being right once - and I think that time even managed to shock him.

A guy like Beach to Montreal actually has some semblance of reality.

I don't like Eklund any more than you do but, he said Richards was going to NY.

Well "predicting" the NYR's are going to throw big money at the top UFA's every year has been an ongoing thing since at least 1994 - arguably before. It also hasn't always translated into making the playoffs, much less a deep run, and certainly no championships...

however that being said... it also is about to the same level as predicting that the Yankees and Red Sox will try to buy all of the big names available too...

Not much "journalism" required.

Ok, on to Plakenec... he has a salary of $5 mil - so who goes? It also isn't exactly a bargain... and I have no idea how long he is signed for.

we have 7 mil in cap space without Frolik, Campoli, Stalberg signed...

I say 2 of those go (my guess is campoli and stalberg), then frolik gets the 2 mil left on his deal...

Then send olesz to europe (a la Huet) and bam we are 3 mil under the cap still... :)

IIRC from last year, though, there is a certain date when teams have to meet the cap?

If so, then it sort of all depends upon who the team keeps with the NHL club.

I think Olesz may be getting a bit of a bum rap, as yes he did have a weak season -but it was also only about 44 games, isn't that right?

He could be a candidate for the AHL, without having to go to the extent of doing the Europe thing; I think Huet got that option out of respect for his perferred choice. Say what anyone will about Huet, he did handle the situation with a lot of class, as well as when the Quenneville had decided to go with Niemi.

___

However as an alternative, you could move Hjalmarsson (as the team has an extra left d now) with Beach as incentive (or whomever really... ). I don't know what this Montreal Centre's cap hit is - that figure I quoted was his salary, I think... But if it were ... 5 mil less 3.6 (I think that is Hammer's hit)... means you reduce the amount of available cap by 1.4mil... 7 less 1.4 mil = 5.6 mil still available -but, and here is the thing - the team can only have (I think) 23 players on their NHL roster at any given time... and the Hawks are in a position where they might have that many, or more... so not all of those guys are going to be on the NHL roster- and therefore (I think) count against the cap...

sharp has the experience, but will he repeat his career year numbers at center? that is the question.

I still stand by my point of Sharp being a better winger than C

I prefer Shrp on the wing, that allows him to focus more offensively. We seen it last year when Sharp is on the wig he is deadly, but when playing center his focus is on defense and being bac in time

your proving how little you watch hockey...

Campoli was pretty good after we got him at the deadline...

He was really unlucky on that "turnover" also...like someone else pointed out, it was a nice play by burrows since it was up against the glass and he kept it in

Besides, with campbell gone, campoli really is going to be that "puck mover" defenseman, so if you trade him, we will be in trouble---unless you think Leddy can jump up to campbell level of play this year

yeah people like joecawks love to blame campoli for that turnover... they'd rather do that then admit someone from a rival team just made a really fucking good play that happened to end our season. in reality campoli made the correct play did everything he was supposed to do, he just got beat.

In order to get Pleks an asset would have to head over their way. There are no cash considerations in the NHL.

Gorges might be a real solid acquisition coming off ACL surgery.

Tbo?! Switching to German now are we?

And either that sig came from a song, or ...well, apparently it was a very poetic confession.

As they say in Germany -- what happens in Germany - stays in Germany (or so it seems...).
